Frank Rizzo
Francis Lazarro Rizzo (October 23, 1920 – July 16, 1991) was an American police officer and politician. He served as Philadelphia police commissioner from 1968 to 1971 and mayor of Philadelphia from 1972 to 1980. He was a member of the Democratic Party throughout the entirety of his career in public office. He switched to the Republican Party in 1986 and campaigned as a Republican for the final five years of his life. Like most of his contemporaries, Rizzo was opposed to the construction of public housing in established neighborhoods, most of which at the time housed majority-white populations. Rizzo was barred from running for a third term in office by the Philadelphia City Charter. He attempted to vote in a charter change to allow him to attempt a run for reelection but was soundly defeated after urging supporters to "Vote white", which he later admitted was "a poor choice of words". Rizzo (band)
Rizzo was an American punk band from Los Angeles, California, United States. History Sarah Dale (drums and vocals) and Jen Abercrombie (guitar and vocals) formed the band in 1995. They originally called themselves Mopar, but after discovering that they had both played the role of Rizzo in their high school productions of '' Grease'', they changed their name to that of the character. In addition to the ''Phoning It In'' LP/CD produced in 2001, Rizzo released one single, recorded by Jimmy Tamborello, and two split singles. Abercrombie also contributed vocals to the Tullycraft albums '' City of Subarus'' and '' Disenchanted Hearts Unite''. Rizzo the Rat is a Muppet character, created and originally performed by Steve Whitmire. He is a fictional rat who appeared on ''The Muppet Show'' and numerous films, with a starring role in the 1992 film ''The Muppet Christmas Carol''. The character is particularly associated with Gonzo the Great, with the two sharing a double act since 1992. Anthony Vincent Rizzo (born August 8, 1989) is an American professional baseball first baseman for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB).
