The Barnstaple Yeo, also known as the River Yeo, is a tributary of the River Taw, which enters the Taw at Barnstaple in Devon, England. It is one of several rivers of the same name, including another tributary of the Taw, the Lapford Yeo. Yeo Island is an island in the North Coast region of British Columbia, Canada. It is separated from the Don Peninsula to its west by Spiller Channel, and from the Coldwell Peninsula to its east by Bullock Channel. Yeo Mill Railway Station
The Devon and Somerset Railway (D&SR) was a cross-country line that connected Barnstaple in Devon, England, to the network of the Bristol and Exeter Railway (B&ER) near Taunton. It was opened in stages between 1871 and 1873 and closed in 1966. It served a mostly rural area although it carried some through services from east of Taunton to the seaside resort of Ilfracombe. From 1988 onwards the route of the line west of South Molton was redeveloped to form the part of the North Devon Link Road. History The Act of Parliament that authorised the D&SR received assent on 29 July 1864. Eugenius Birch was appointed as Engineer, but he was replaced by Richard Hassard in 1870. Yeo (locomotive)
''Yeo'' was one of three narrow gauge steam locomotives built by Manning Wardle in 1898 for the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. The other two locomotives were named ''Exe'' and ''Taw''. ''Yeo'', like all the locomotives on the L&B, was named after a local river with a three-letter name, in this case the River Yeo. This naming tradition has been continued in the 21st Century, with ''Lyd'' (a replica of ''Lew'', the fourth locomotive built to this basic design) operational on the Ffestiniog Railway and the Welsh Highland Railway. It had been intended that ''Lyd'' would receive ''Yeo's'' original chimney (which survived on a steamroller for 62 years) but it was found to be too corroded for further use. "Yeo Valley Rap" is an advertising campaign for the family-owned farming and dairy company, Yeo Valley Organic by the "Yeo Valley Boyz", which features Mr George and Lisa Roxanne. The advert was produced by Boi-1da and the lyrics were written by Mr George. After much positive feedback came for the advert, the rap was added to iTunes for digital download from October 27, 2010 on Black Sheep Music. Background Originally, the rap was just an advertising campaign for Yeo Valley Organic. The advert then started coming during breaks for The X Factor. The advert gained popularity and after many requests, the advert was then available to download from iTunes. Rosie Arnold, the BBH Deputy Executive Creative Director, talked about the idea of the campaign: "What we wanted to do was make Yeo Valley Organic popular for everybody. Cheddar Yeo
The Cheddar Yeo is a small river in Somerset, England. Beneath the limestone of the Mendip Hills it forms the largest underground river system in Britain. After emerging into Cheddar Gorge it flows through the village of Cheddar, where it has been used in the past to power mills. From the Middle Ages until the 19th century the river had ports for seagoing vessels but is no longer navigable. Some of the water, which is of good quality, is diverted into Cheddar Reservoir to provide drinking water for Bristol. Course The Yeo rises from a spring near Charterhouse and then disappears under the Limestone of the Mendip Hills before reappearing in Gough's Cave before emerging into Cheddar Gorge.
