Ritual (2012 Film)
''Ritual'' ( id, Modus Anomali) is a 2012 Indonesian psychological thriller film written and directed by Joko Anwar. It stars Rio Dewanto in the lead role and is Anwar's first English-language film. According to Anwar, he made the film in English simply to indicate that it does not take place in Indonesia. Synopsis The film opens with a man ( Rio Dewanto) waking up buried in a shallow grave in the middle of a forest with no recollection of what happened to him. He finds hints that he has a family and therefore travels the jungle trying to reunite with his wife and children. However, he soon finds out that he is not alone and there is someone trying to kill him and his family. Joko Anwar
Joko Anwar (born 3 January 1976) is an Indonesian film director, producer, screenwriter, and actor. Prior to becoming a filmmaker, he worked as a journalist and film critic. Anwar first rose to prominence for co-writing Nia Dinata's 2003 hit ''Arisan!'' which won five awards at the 2004 Citra Award. He then made his feature film directorial debut with the romantic comedy ''Joni's Promise'' in 2005, gaining a Best Director nomination at the 2005 Citra Award. ''Tempo'' is an Indonesian weekly magazine that covers news and politics. It was founded by Goenawan Mohamad and Yusril Djalinus and the first edition was published on 6 March 1971. Fantasporto, also known as Fantas, is an international film festival, annually organized since 1981 in Porto, Portugal. South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and Convention (meeting), conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. Rio Dewanto (born in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 28, 1987) is an Indonesian actor and model of Javanese descent. Career Dewanto began his debut career as film actor when played his cameo role in the two films, titled ''Pintu Terlarang'' (2009) and '' Ratu Kosmopolitan'' (2010).
