Rio (British Drink)
Rio formerly known as Rio Riva and Arriva is a British brand of soft drink made by Hall & Woodhouse. History The drink was created by Dorset brewery Hall & Woodhouse in the 1980s and was originally named Arriva derived from the French ‘arriver’ which means to arrive. In 1994, its name was changed to Rio Riva before being changed to simply Rio. In 2013, Dragon Rouge redesigned Rio in response to research that showed consumers knew the Rio name but didn’t know much about the drink itself. Rio was redesigned again in 2017 by Pearlfisher taking inspiration from Brazilian street art to target a younger demographic. The logo was changed as well, with the ‘O’ being turned into a sun to emphasise their slogan of "Celebrate the Sunny". Hall & Woodhouse
Hall and Woodhouse is a British regional brewery founded in 1777 by Charles Hall in Blandford Forum, Dorset, England. The company operates over 250 public houses in the south of England, and brews under the name Badger Brewery. History The brewery traces its roots to 1777, when Charles Hall founded the Ansty Brewery in Ansty, Dorset. The Hall & Woodhouse partnership dates from 1847, when Charles' son and successor went into business with George Woodhouse, who had earlier been employed as head brewer. In 1875, the firm's logo of a badger was first introduced, and in 1900, when a new brewery was built to replace the original, it was named after the logo. The logo has evolved over the years. The firm remains a family business. In 1991 the brewpub ''Gribble Inn'' in Oving, West Sussex was acquired. Although PET is used in several applications, (principally textile fibres for apparel and upholstery, bottles and other rigid packaging, flexible packaging and electrical and electronic goods), as of 2022 only bottles are collected at a substantial scale. The main motivations have been either cost reduction (when oil prices spike) or recycle content of retail goods (driven by regulations or public opinion).
