Rigel
Rigel is a blue supergiant star in the constellation of Orion. It has the Bayer designation β Orionis, which is Latinized to Beta Orionis and abbreviated Beta Ori or β Ori. Rigel is the brightest and most massive componentand the eponymof a star system of at least four stars that appear as a single blue-white point of light to the naked eye. This system is located at a distance of approximately from the Sun. A star of spectral type B8Ia, Rigel is calculated to be anywhere from 61,500 to 363,000 times as luminous as the Sun, and 18 to 24 times as massive, depending on the method and assumptions used. Its radius is more than seventy times that of the Sun, and its surface temperature is . Due to its stellar wind, Rigel's mass-loss is estimated to be ten million times that of the Sun. With an estimated age of seven to nine million years, Rigel has exhausted its core hydrogen fuel, expanded, and cooled to become a supergiant. It is expected to end its life a ...

Rigel (comics)
''Rigel'' is a goth-dark comicbook character, her adventures take place in our contemporary world, she is created by Elena de' Grimani. Publication history After a first series of three volumes self-produced by the author from '99 to 2001 that did debut at Lucca Comics, Rigel becomes a small "publishing phenomenon", and in fact just two years after its debut, goes to publication with Panini Comics, first with the miniseries "Rigel Interlunium" that will be sold out and reprinted several times (the last in 2012 in deluxe-variant version) and then continue with the monographic Anedonia, giving life to a new narrative arc of the character. Rigel Interlunium is not in continuity with self-production. The titles of the three self-produced volumes are: * ''Rigel – La Settima Congrega'' * ''Rigel – Il requiem dell'unicorno'' * ''Rigel – Creature dell'Altrove'' The self-production is now sold out since a long time, and in the new chapters produced by Panini Comics (Rigel Int ...

Rigel (dog)
Rigel was a large black Newfoundland dog who was said to have saved some of the survivors of the sinking of the RMS ''Titanic''. One account of the story was published in the ''New York Herald'', April 21, 1912, the other was the book ''Sinking of the Titanic and Great sea disasters'' by Logan Marshall, published in 1912. Story According to the narrative, Rigel was said to have been owned by William McMaster Murdoch, the First Officer of the . Murdoch died in the sinking, but Rigel swam away, and stayed close to one of the lifeboats ( Boat #4, in some accounts). When arrived on the scene looking for survivors, Rigel began to bark. The lifeboat had drifted under the bows of the ''Carpathia'', and was at risk of being run down, but the people in the boat were too exhausted to make themselves heard. Rigel's barks alerted Captain Arthur Rostron, who ordered the engines stopped and began the search for survivors. Everyone in the lifeboat was saved, and Rigel was pulled from the ic ...

Rigel (microprocessor)
Rigel was a microprocessor chip set developed and fabricated by Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) that implemented the VAX instruction set architecture (ISA). It was introduced on 11 July 1989 with the introduction of the VAX 6000 Model 400, the first system to feature the chip set. Rigel was also used in the VAX 4000 Model 300 and VAXstation 3100 Model 76. Production Rigel CPUs were rated at 35 to 43 MHz. The Rigel chipset consisted of several devices: *REX520 central processing unit (also known as the DC520 or "P-chip") *DC523 floating-point unit (codenamed ''KIWI'' or "F-chip" during development) *DC592 cache controller (codenamed ''COW'' or "C-chip" during development) *DC521 clock chip In addition, two further devices implemented the VAX vector processor option; these comprised the DC555 Vector Register set chip (''VERSE'') and the DC556 Vector Data Path chip (''FAVOR''). Support chips for Rigel-based systems included the RSSC (Rigel System Support Chip) and ''Ghi ...

SSM-N-6 Rigel
The SSM-N-6 Rigel was a proposed United States Navy submarine-launched, nuclear-capable ramjet-powered cruise missile. Etymology The Rigel missile was named after Rigel, the brightest star in the constellation Orion. Development In 1946 the US Navy sanctioned development of the Rigel missile as a sub-launched supersonic weapon to attack enemy shores, in parallel with development of the subsonic SSM-N-8 Regulus. The SSM-N-6 was to be launched by means of 4 rocket boosters and a catapult, with two ramjets for the cruise mode of the flight. Several Rigel test articles were built to test the planned ramjet system for the Rigel missile. They had a single ramjet and a single rocket booster. Subsequently, scaled-down Flight Test Vehicles (FTVs) were built with a configuration similar to the full-scale missile, and the first FTV launch occurred in May 1950. Unfortunately, plans to build the SSM-N-6 missiles were cancelled because the failure of FTV flight tests, but also due to the fac ...

Megalyridae
Megalyroidea is a small hymenopteran superfamily of wasps that includes a single family, Megalyridae, with eight extant genera (plus around a dozen extinct ones) and 49 described species. Modern megalyrids are found primarily in the southern hemisphere, though fossils have only been found in the northern hemisphere. The most abundant and species-rich megalyrid fauna is in Australia. Another peak of diversity appears to be in the relict forests of Madagascar, but most of these species are still undescribed. Historically, there has been much confusion about the definition of this family. Species now placed in Megalyridae have in the past been classified into as many as six other families (Braconidae, Evaniidae, Ichneumonidae, and Stephanidae, as well as Dinapsidae and Maimetshidae, with Dinapsidae now considered to be within the Megalyridae. Maimetshidae is no longer considered closely related to Megalyridae, and has been included in Trigonaloidea with Trigonalidae. The oldest ...

Fire Emblem Gaiden
is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Famicom. Released in March 1992, it is the second installment in the ''Fire Emblem'' series and the last to be developed for the Famicom. It builds upon the basic turn-based strategy gameplay of the previous title, while including new elements such as a navigable overworld. Set in the same world as its predecessor, '' Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light'', ''Gaiden'' follows the battles of two opposing armies on the continent of Valentia, which is torn apart by political strife involving the princess Celica and her childhood friend Alm. The development began after the commercial success of ''Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light,'' original designer and writer Shouzou Kaga returned and assumed the role of director, while Yuka Tsujiyoko and Gunpei Yokoi returned respectively as composer and producer. Kaga's main concern was addressing pacing issues from the first game ...
