Rien Van Der Velde
Rink "Rien" van der Velde (born 21 February 1957) is a Dutch politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands for the Labour Party between 25 October 2016 and 23 March 2017. He entered the House as a temporary replacement of Sjoera Dikkers. On 14 December 2016 he became a permanent member of the House when he took the place of the resigned parliamentary group leader Diederik Samsom. He has served in the municipal council of Noordoostpolder since 2010. He serves as council leader of the combination Labour Party/GreenLeft. Van der Velde is a lecturer at Van Hall Larenstein since September 2006. He also owns an education institute. The House of Representatives (, pronounced ; commonly referred to as the ', literally "Second Chamber of the States General") is the lower house of the bicameral parliament of the Netherlands, the States General, the other one being the Senate. It has 150 seats, which are filled through elections using party-list proportional representation. Generally, the house is located in the Binnenhof in The Hague, however, it has temporarily moved to the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Bezuidenhoutseweg 67 in the Hague while the Binnenhof is being renovated. Noordoostpolder
Noordoostpolder (; en, "North-East Polder") is a polder and municipality in the Flevoland province in the central Netherlands. Formerly, it was also called '' Urker Land''. Emmeloord is the administrative center, located in the heart of the Noordoostpolder. For history, see Zuiderzee Works. Nagele
Nagele is a village in the Dutch province of Flevoland. It is a part of the municipality of Noordoostpolder, and lies about 10 km south of Emmeloord. History Nagele was designed by the architectural team "De 8" between 1948 and 1954. The final design by Aldo van Eyck and de 8 was shown at the CIAM 8 meeting in 1956. While the current condition of the town differs from the original design, some of the basic concepts remain. The village was founded in 1954 after an island in the Zuiderzee which used be located between Urk and Schokland. The etymology is unknown, however a river called Nakala was recorded in 966 near Urk. The organization of the Noordoostpolder area was based on a central nucleus with smaller towns circling around connected by roads back to the center. Sjoerdtje Willemien (Sjoera) Dikkers (born 14 July 1969 in Deventer) is a Dutch former politician and activist. As a member of the Labour Party (Partij van de Arbeid) she was an MP between 17 June 2010 and 23 March 2017. She focused on matters of development aid and commercial policy. Diederik Samsom
Diederik Maarten Samsom (; born 10 July 1971) is a Dutch environmentalist and retired politician who served the Labour Party (''Partij van de Arbeid'' PvdA) from 2012 to 2016. He was the first leader in the 70-year history of the PvdA to have been voted out of his position by party members. Since November 2019 Samsom is head of cabinet for First Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans. Elected to the House of Representatives between 30 January 2003 and 14 December 2016, he was elected PvdA parliamentary leader as well as party leader on 16 March 2012. GreenLeft
GroenLinks (, ) is a green political party in the Netherlands. It was formed on 1 March 1989 from the merger of four left-wing parties: the Communist Party of the Netherlands, the Pacifist Socialist Party, the Political Party of Radicals and the Evangelical People's Party, which shared left-wing and progressive ideals and earlier co-operated in Regenboog-coalition for the 1989 European Parliament election. After disappointing results in the 1989 and 1994 general elections, the nascent party fared particularly well in the 1998 and 2002 elections. Early general elections were held in the Netherlands on 12 September 2012 after Prime Minister Mark Rutte handed in his government's resignation to Queen Beatrix on 23 April. The 150 seats of the House of Representatives of the Netherlands were contested using party-list proportional representation.
