RidingEasy is an American record label founded in 2013. The label specializes primarily in heavy metal and rock subgenres, including doom metal, stoner rock, sludge metal, and neo-psychedelia. The label is best known for its ''Brown Acid'' series of compilation albums. Background The label was first founded in Los Angeles in 2013 by disc jockey and vinyl collector Daniel Hall. Initially known as Easy Rider Records, the label's first release was the debut album for the Swedish doom metal band, Salem's Pot. In May 2014 the label faced a lawsuit from the motorcycle magazine Easyriders, leading Hall to change the label's name to RidingEasy. Since its founding, RidingEasy has signed a number of heavy rock and metal acts, including Acid King, Electric Citizen, Zig Zags, Sorcery, and Shooting Guns. A disc jockey, more commonly abbreviated as DJ, is a person who plays recorded music for an audience. Shooting Guns are a Canadian heavy metal band from Saskatoon, SK. Releasing albums and recordings since 2011, they have been nominated for the JUNO Award and Polaris Prize. Their style is influenced by Black Sabbath and kraut rock. Shooting Guns scored the soundtrack to Canadian horror-comedy film ''WolfCop'' and released the Official Soundtrack in 2014 in partnership with One Way Static, RidingEasy Records, and Cinecoup. Sorcery (band)
Sorcery is an American hard rock band from Hollywood, California, United States. Background Sorcery is a musical theatrical group from Los Angeles formed in 1975 by guitarist Richard "Smokey' Taylor, bassist Richie King and vocalist Greg Magie. Known for their music and elaborate stage show consisting of a hard rock band and two master magicians who incorporated the use of magic illusions in the on-stage battle where Merlin takes on Satan. Sorcery also appeared on Dick Clark TV specials. In 1982, they appeared on Dick Clark's 90-minute TV special, ''A Rockin Halloween''. Other artists on this show included Devo, Eddie Money, Jermaine Jackson, and Tony Basil and hosted by Fred Travalena. Zig Zags
Zig Zags is a L.A. based heavy metal/ punk rock trio. The band consists of singer/guitarist Jed Maheu, drummer Dane Arnold and bassist Sean Hoffman. '' Clash'' has described their music as a "Venn diagram connecting Black Sabbath, Black Flag and Motörhead". History Singer Jed Maheu and drummer Bobby Martin began writing music together in 2010. The band is not named for the rolling paper company but is instead named for a slang term for cheap canvas shoes which Maheu and Martin were both wearing at the time. Both Maheu and Martin were originally guitarists but Martin quickly moved to drums and the band played a few shows as a duo. Patrick McCarthy, a local fan, soon joined as bassist. The band's first release was a 7 inch entitled ''Monster Wizard'' on Tubesteak Tuesday. Electric Citizen are an American rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio formed in 2012. The group's current lineup consists of Laura Dolan (lead vocals), Ross Dolan (guitar), Nick Vogelpohl (bass), and Nate Wagner (drums). Acid King
Acid King is an American stoner metal band from San Francisco, California. It was formed in 1993 by frontwoman Lori S., drummer Joey Osbourne and bassist Peter Lucas. Acid King have since recorded four studio albums and two EPs with a series of bassists. The band's name was inspired by the crimes of Ricky Kasso, who murdered his friend Gary Lauwers in Northport, New York on June 19, 1984. Kasso was nicknamed "Acid King" by his peers due to his chronic hallucinogenic drug use. The band's self-titled debut EP features a photograph of Kasso on its cover. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States.
