Richardson's Roundup
''The Roundup'' was a weekday afternoon program on the Radio One network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, hosted by Tetsuro Shigematsu and Bill Richardson at different times. It was heard Monday to Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (2:30 to 4:30 in Newfoundland). The show mixed music with calls and letters from listeners, which were often comic in nature, and feature interviews. The show was produced by CBU in Vancouver. The show was originally hosted by Bill Richardson and called ''Richardson's Roundup''. It was created in 1997 to replace Vicki Gabereau's show, when she left to do a television show with CTV. Tetsuro Shigematsu
Tetsuro Shigematsu (born 1971) is a playwright/performer, filmmaker, comedian, and Canadian radio broadcaster. He was the final host of CBC Radio One's former afternoon series '' The Roundup'', where he replaced Bill Richardson in 2004, making him the first visible minority to host a daily network radio program in Canada. The show completed its final episode on November 4, 2005. Prior to working for CBC Radio, he was a writer for the Canadian TV show ''This Hour Has 22 Minutes''. He is currently a writer for ''The Huffington Post'', and artist-in-residence at Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre. Early life Shigematsu was born in London, England in 1971. Bill Richardson (radio)
Bill Richardson (born 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian radio broadcaster and author. Richardson received his B.A. from the University of Winnipeg in 1976. After spending a year in Montpellier, he moved to Vancouver, where he completed a Master of Library Science at the University of British Columbia. He received an honorary doctorate from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, June 2017. He was a long-time broadcaster on CBC Radio One, beginning in 1992 as a regular contributor and guest host on Vicki Gabereau's show. When Gabereau left to host a television show on CTV, Richardson moved over to CBC Radio Two to host ''As You Like It'', a classical music request show. In 1997 he returned to CBC Radio One to become host of ''Richardson's Roundup''. CBU (AM)
CBU is a Canadian radio station, which airs the programming of the CBC Radio One network, in Vancouver, British Columbia. The station broadcasts on 690 AM (a clear channel frequency) and on 88.1 FM as CBU-2-FM. CBU's newscasts and local shows are also heard on a chain of CBC stations around the Lower Mainland. CBU's studios and offices are in the CBC Regional Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton Street in Downtown Vancouver. Vicki Gabereau (born May 31, 1946) is a Canadian radio and television personality, best known for her longtime association with CBC Radio and her television talk show which aired on CTV from 1997 to 2005. Biography Vicki Frances Filion was born in Vancouver.
