Richard Shannon is a writer, performer, and speaker. Biography He was born on 17 April 1954 in Three Rivers, Texas. He published the science fiction semi-prozine '' Trajectories - The Magazine of Science Fiction in the Southwest'' during the 1980s. His writing has appeared in ''Factsheet Five'', the collected ''Why Publish?'', an''The American Book Review'' He served two terms on the board of directors of the Austin Writers' League, now the Writers' League of Texas, one as Secretary of the Board, and three years on the board of directors of the Austin Celtic Association, two as President. He was festival director of the Austin Celtic Festival for those same two years. Three Rivers, Texas
Three Rivers is a city in Live Oak County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,848 at the 2010 census. History Mrs. Annie T. Hamilton of Cuero owned a tract of land in the Brush Country where Three Rivers now sits. At the urging of Mrs. Hamilton, Charles R. Tips came to the Brush Country. In 1913, Mrs. Hamilton paid the San Antonio, Uvalde and Gulf Railroad to build a depot on her land. Tips organized a townsite company and sold land for the township. On July 4, 1913 the town began with a grand opening and first sale of land. From its formation, it was designed as a segregated township, with the "Mexican" section located between the river and the railroad tracks, west of the business section. This can still be seen today in the differences of street names, even though forced segregation ended many decades past. ''Trajectories'' was a 1980s Tabloid (newspaper format), tabloid magazine published in Austin, Texas by Richard Shannon (American writer), Richard Shannon and Susan Sneller. It featured news and articles on fantasy, science, science fantasy, science fiction, and science fiction philosophy. It contained reviews of books, poetry, short stories, music and performances. Articles and stories were contributed by Lewis Shiner2, John Shirley, Bruce Boston, Uncle River, Winter Damon and others. A total of six issues appeared irregularly over a six-year span. ''Factsheet Five'' was a periodical mostly consisting of short reviews of privately produced printed matter along with contact details of the editors and publishers. In the 1980s and early 1990s, its comprehensive reviews (thousands in each issue) made it the most important publication in its field, heralding the wider spread of what would eventually be called fanzine or zine culture. Before the widespread adoption of the web and e-mail beginning around 1994, publications such as ''Factsheet Five'' formed a vital directory for connecting like-minded people. It was the literary equivalent to such phenomena as '' International Sound Communication'' in the period of cassette culture. The Writers' League of Texas was established in 1981 as the Austin Writers' League in Austin, Texas. The Austin Celtic Association is a non-profit organization based in Central Texas. The Newton Boys
''The Newton Boys'' is a 1998 American Western crime film directed by Richard Linklater, who co-wrote the screenplay with Claude Stanush and Clark Lee Walker. It is based on Stanush's 1994 book of the same name, which tells the true story of the Newton Gang, a family of bank and train robbers from Uvalde, Texas. Richard Stuart Linklater (; born July 30, 1960) is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter.
