Richard Hodgson
Richard Hodgson (born 1 October 1979) is an English former professional footballer. Hodgson began his career as a trainee with Nottingham Forest, turning professional in October 1996. He was released in March 2000, having failed to break into the first team, and joined Scunthorpe United on non-contract terms. His league debut came on 11 March 2000 in Scunthorpe's 3–0 defeat at home to Cambridge United. However, Hodgson was replaced by Wayne Graves at half-time and did not feature for Scunthorpe again. In August 2000 Hodgson joined Darlington, making over 100 first team appearances before joining Farnborough Town on a free transfer in August 2003. He had a two-day trial with Bristol Rovers in December 2003. He moved to Stevenage Borough in March 2004, but struggled to establish himself. He joined Forest Green Rovers on loan in August 2004 and in October 2004 moved to Crawley Town. However he was with Crawley for only 48 hours before moving to League Two side Cambridge United ... Richard Hodgson (publisher)
Richard Hodgson (1804, in Wimpole Street, Marylebone, Central London – 4 May 1872, in Chingford, Essex) was an English publisher and amateur astronomer. Educated at Lewes, Hodgson worked for some years at a banking-house in Lombard Street. In 1834 he joined Boys & Graves to form Hodgson, Boys & Graves. In 1836 he formed with Henry Graves the publishing company Hodgson & Graves. In 1839 their company founded ''The Art Journal''. In 1841 Hodgson retired from publishing to work on daguerrotypy. In the late 1840s he created the Hawkwood estate. After a number of years of achieving considerable success in daguerrotypy, he worked on telescopic and microscopic observations. According to his obituary in the ''Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society'': The geomagnetic storm they observed is now known as the Carrington Event, which spurred the study of space weather. Richard Hodgson (24 September 1855 – 21 December 1905) was an Australian-born psychical researcher who investigated spiritualist mediums such as Eusapia Palladino and Leonora Piper. During his later life, Hodgson became a spiritualist medium himself and believed to be in communication with spirits. Biography Hodgson was born in Melbourne, Australia on 24 September 1855 to Mr. R. Hodgson, leather merchant of Melbourne. He received a doctor of law degree in 1878 from the University of Melbourne. In the 1880s he moved to England to study poetry at St John's College, Cambridge. Hodgson met Henry Sidgwick his professor at Cambridge and became a member of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) in 1882. Hodgson joined the American Society for Psychical Research in 1887 to serve as its secretary. Richard Hodgson-Huntley, also known as Richard Hodgson until 1870, (1 April 1812 – 22 December 1877) was a British Conservative Party politician and railway entrepreneur. Family Known as Hodgson at the time, Hodgson-Huntley was the second son of John Hodgson and Sarah, daughter of Richard Huntley. He married Catherine Moneypenny, daughter of Anthony Compton. They had at least one child: Katherine Isabella. Political career The then-Hodgson was elected a protectionist Conservative MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed in 1837. He held the seat until 1847 when he stood down in order to contest Newcastle upon Tyne, a seat his brother, John Hodgson, was retiring from; he was unsuccessful. Hodgson returned to Berwick-upon-Tweed to contest the 1852 general election and by-elections in 1853 and 1859 but failed to recapture the seat.
