Richard Hedreen
Richard Hedreen (born April 1935) is a Seattle-based hotel and property developer and art collector. Known for opposing unionization of hotel workers and conflicts with Seattle city government, he has been audited multiple times. The R.C. Hedreen Company has built the Seattle Hilton Hotel, the Grand Hyatt, the Olive 8, the Hyatt Regency Seattle and other Seattle skyscrapers. Early life Richard C. Hedreen was born in 1935. He attended Garfield High School and graduated from the University of Washington in 1957 with a Bachelor's of Science degree in civil engineering. Career 1960s–1980s In 1963 Hedreen began developing properties in Seattle. He built the 11-story Harbor House apartment building in Queen Anne for $1.6 million. Freeway Park
Freeway Park, officially known as Jim Ellis Freeway Park, is an urban park in Seattle, Washington, United States, connecting the city's downtown to the Washington State Convention Center and First Hill. The park sits atop a section of Interstate 5 and a large city-owned parking lot; 8th Avenue also bridges over the park. An unusual mixture of brutalist architecture and greenery, the park, designed by Lawrence Halprin's office under the supervision of Angela Danadjieva, opened to the public on July 4, 1976, at a cost of $23.5 million. Walt Crowley
Walter Charles Crowley (June 20, 1947 – September 21, 2007) was an American historian and activist from Washington state. He first entered the public sphere in Seattle through his involvement with the social and political movements of the 1960s, especially the underground press. He later became more widely known as a local television personality and for his pioneering work as a local historian, including co-creating the website HistoryLink.org, which he considered to be his crowning achievement. Greg Nickels
Gregory J. Nickels (born August 7, 1955) is an American politician who served as the 51st mayor of Seattle, Washington. He took office on January 1, 2002 and was reelected to a second term in 2005. In August 2009, Nickels finished third in the primary election for Seattle mayor, failing to qualify for the November 2009 general election, and losing his bid for a third term as mayor. Peter Steinbrueck
Peter Steinbrueck (born October 14, 1957) is an American architect and politician from Seattle, Washington. He is the principal and founder of Steinbrueck Urban Strategies and was a city councilmember from 1997 to 2008. He also previously served as a Seattle Port Commissioner from 2018 to 2022. Nick Licata (politician)
Nick Licata (born 1947) is a retired member of the Seattle City Council, having left office at the end of 2015 after being elected to five terms and serving 18 years. During his time on the council, he served as Council President and chaired numerous committees, including Budget, Parks, Public Safety, Human Services, Housing, Arts and Culture. Licata is also a published author of two books, a children's novel and a non-fiction book on citizenship. Jenny Anne Durkan (born May 19, 1958) is an American attorney, former federal prosecutor, and politician who served as the 56th mayor of Seattle, Washington. She is the daughter of Martin Durkan. Martin James Durkan Sr. (June 30, 1923 – May 29, 2005) was an American attorney, politician, and lobbyist from the state of Washington. He served as a member of the Washington House of Representatives from 1957 to 1959 and in the State Senate from 1959 to 1975. Durkan also ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Washington in 1972 and the U.S. House of Representatives in 1977. After his retirement from the Senate, Durkan became one of the state's top lobbyists.
