Richard Gale (British Army Officer)
General Sir Richard Nelson "Windy" Gale, (25 June 1896 – 29 July 1982) was a senior officer in the British Army who served in both world wars. In the First World War he was awarded the Military Cross in 1918 whilst serving as a junior officer in the Machine Gun Corps. During the Second World War he served with 1st Parachute Brigade and then the 6th Airborne Division during the D-Day landings and Operation Tonga in 1944. After the end of the conflict, Gale remained in the army and eventually, in 1958, succeeded Field Marshal The Viscount Montgomery as Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Europe. Early life Gale was born on 25 June 1896 in London, England,Smart, p. 111 to Wilfred Gale, a merchant from Hull, and his wife Helen Webber Ann, daughter of Joseph Nelson, of Townsville, Queensland, Australia. The early years of his life were spent in Australia and New Zealand due to his father gaining employment in insurance, but the Gale family returned to England in 1906.Dover, p. 27

Richard Gale (Australian Politician)
Richard Gale (1834–2 January 1931), was a Member of the Western Australian Legislative Council from 1874 to 1878. He was born the 12th child of John Gale, farmer of Dorset, England (the third by his second wife, Mary Brown). He was baptised at Beaminster on 18 December 1834, and in later life said he was born at Westhay Farm. Nothing more is known of his early life, but in 1856, he emigrated to Western Australia on board the ''Shanghai''. He was farm and dairy manager for William Locke Brockman at Gingin until 1860, and then managed John Molloy's Busselton property ''Fairlawn'' until 1867. On Molloy's death in October of that year, Gale leased and then purchased ''Fairlawn'', living there until his death. Richard Pillsbury Gale (October 30, 1900 – December 4, 1973) was an American politician and farmer who served as a U.S. Representative from Minnesota. He was a member of the Republican Party. Gale was a part of the Pilsbury family, a prominent Minnesota milling family that founded and owned the Pillsbury Company, one of the world's largest producers of grain. Life Gale was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of Edward Cheney and Sarah Bell (née Pillsbury) Gale. A member of the Pilsbury family, which founded and owned the Pillsbury Company, his grandfather was Minnesota governor John S. Pillsbury. Gale attended Minneapolis public schools, The Blake School, Minnesota Farm School, and the University of Minnesota at Minneapolis.
