Richard D. J. Clarke (born 29 May 1979) is a Northern Irish former association football, footballer who was most recently manager of Dergview F.C., Dergview. Clarke played as a Midfielder#Central midfielder, central midfielder. Career Club career Born in Castlederg, Clarke signed for Portadown in 1994, from amateur side Dungoyne Boys. He has appeared in European competition for Portadown, and won the Northern Ireland Football Writer's Association 'Young Player of the Year' award in 1999. With Portadown, Clarke has won two leagues competitions and six cups. Since 2009, Clarke has made over 60 appearances in the IFA for Portadown. International career Clarke was a Northern Ireland national under-21 football team, Northern Ireland under-21 international. Castlederg
Castlederg (earlier Caslanadergy, ) is a town in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It lies on the River Derg and is near the border with County Donegal, Ireland. It stands in the townlands of Castlesessagh and Churchtown, in the historic barony of Omagh West and the civil parish of Urney. The Irish Football Association Challenge Cup, commonly referred to as the Irish Cup (currently known as the Samuel Gelston's Whiskey Irish Cup for sponsorship purposes) is the primary football knock-out cup competition in Northern Ireland. Inaugurated in 1881, it is the fourth-oldest national cup competition in the world. A midfielder is an outfield position in association football. Midfielders may play an exclusively defensive role, breaking up attacks, and are in that case known as defensive midfielders.
