''Ricerche di Matematica'' is a peer-reviewed mathematics journal on applied mathematics and pure mathematics. It was established in 1952 by Carlo Miranda with the collaboration of Renato Caccioppoli and other members of the ''Istituto di Matematica'' of the University of Naples Federico II. From 1952 to 2005 the journal was published in 54 volumes in Naples with articles in Italian, English, or French. From 2006 "Ricerche di Matematica" (with articles only in English) is published by Springer-Verlag under the auspices of the ''Dipartimento di Matematica e Applicazioni "Renato Caccioppoli"''; a board of professors in this department at the University of Naples Federico II appoints and supports the journal's editors. ''Società a responsabilità limitata'' (S.r.l. or srl) is a kind of legal corporate entity in Italy, which literally means (but is not entirely equal to) limited liability company. It has a similar form to ''società sportiva dilettantistica a responsabilità limitata'' (S.s.d a r.l.) for amateur sports-related companies and their corresponding regulations: article 90 of the Italian Law №289 of 2002. Pure Mathematics
Pure mathematics is the study of mathematical concepts independently of any application outside mathematics. These concepts may originate in real-world concerns, and the results obtained may later turn out to be useful for practical applications, but pure mathematicians are not primarily motivated by such applications. Carlo Miranda
Carlo Miranda (15 August 1912 – 28 May 1982) was an Italian mathematician, working on mathematical analysis, theory of elliptic partial differential equations and complex analysis: he is known for giving the first proof of the Poincaré–Miranda theorem, for Miranda's theorem in complex analysis, and for writing an influential monograph in the theory of elliptic partial differential equations. Renato Caccioppoli
Renato Caccioppoli (; 20 January 1904 – 8 May 1959) was an Italian mathematician, known for his contributions to mathematical analysis, including the theory of functions of several complex variables, functional analysis, measure theory. Life and career Born in Naples, he was the son of Giuseppe Caccioppoli (1852–1947), a surgeon, and his second wife Sofia Bakunin (1870–1956), daughter of the Russian revolutionary Mikhail Bakunin. After earning his high-school diploma in 1921, he enrolled in the department of engineering to swap to mathematics in November 1923. Immediately after earning his laurea in 1925, he became the assistant of Mauro Picone, who in that year was called to the University of Naples, where he remained until 1932. ''Mathematical Reviews'' is a journal published by the American Mathematical Society (AMS) that contains brief synopses, and in some cases evaluations, of many articles in mathematics, statistics, and theoretical computer science. The AMS also publishes an associated online bibliographic database called MathSciNet which contains an electronic version of ''Mathematical Reviews'' and additionally contains citation information for over 3.5 million items as of 2018. Reviews Mathematical Reviews was founded by Otto E. Neugebauer in 1940 as an alternative to the German journal ''Zentralblatt für Mathematik'', which Neugebauer had also founded a decade earlier, but which under the Nazis had begun censoring reviews by and of Jewish mathematicians.
