Ricco (crater)
Ricco is a lunar impact crater. It is located in the northern part of the Moon's far side. This crater overlies the southeastern rim of the larger crater Milankovic. Less than one crater diameter to the southwest is Karpinskiy, while to the southeast is Roberts. This is a relatively fresh crater formation that has not been degraded through impact erosion. The rim edge is well-defined except along the southwestern edge. Along that side skirt of ejecta from Karpinsky overlies the edge and the inner wall, reaching to the edge of the interior floor. The remainder of the inner wall has a slumped in places, forming a steep top section and shelves or terraces of slumped material. The most extensive terraces occur along the northwestern side, where the rim overlays part of Milankovic. The outer rampart Rampart may refer to: * Rampart (fortification), a defensive wall or bank around a castle, fort or settlement Rampart may also refer to: * "O'er the Ramparts We Watched" is a key lin ...

Ricco (painter)
Ricco (October 13, 1915 – March 27, 1972), born Erich Wassmer, was a Swiss painter. His paintings often depict idealizing dream worlds in the genre of magic realism. Life Erich Wassmer was born in Allschwil into an upper-class environment, the son of cement factory owner and art patron ''Max Wassmer'' (1887–1970). From the age of 3 he grew up at Bremgarten Castle near Bern, which was filled with art and culture. Max and Tilli-Wassmer-Zurlinden socialised with poets, painters and composers such as Hermann Hesse, Louis Moilliet, Cuno Amiet, Paul Basilius Barth and Othmar Schoeck. Early on Erich Wassmer was interested in the art of painting. The family encouraged his artistic talent and his interest in art, literature and music, after the continuation of the parental cement factory had been secured by his two brothers. Wassmer marked the end of his childhood with a new name: From 1937 onwards Erich Wassmer signed his paintings with Ricco — a name like a magic word — ins ...

Ricco's Law
Riccò's law, discovered by astronomer Annibale Riccò, is one of several laws that describe a human's ability to visually detect targets on a uniform background. This law explains the visual relationship between a target angular area ''A'' and target luminance increment \Delta L required for detection when that target is unresolved (that is, is too small in the field of view to make out different parts of it). The law is given by: :\mathrm \Delta L = \frac k where k is a constant (for a given background, see below). For constant background luminance L, the equation can be restated as :\Delta L / L = C = \frac K with a different constant K. The fraction \Delta L / L is referred to as Weber contrast ''C''. Riccò's law is applicable for regions where the target being detected is unresolved. The resolution of the human eye (the receptive field size) is approximately one arc-minute in the center (the fovea center) but the size increases in peripheral vision. Riccò's law is a ...
