General Sir Phineas Riall, KCH (15 December 1775 – 10 November 1850) was the British general who succeeded John Vincent as commanding officer of the Niagara Peninsula in Upper Canada during the War of 1812. In 1816, he was appointed Governor of Grenada. Military career Riall was born at Clonmel, Ireland, into a wealthy Protestant landowning family. He was the third son of Phineas Riall (1737–1797) of Heywood, Co. Tipperary, whose father had founded the Riall Bank of Clonmel. His mother, Catherine, was the daughter of Charles Caldwell of Dublin and a sister of Admiral Sir Benjamin Caldwell. He was a cousin and from 1790 the brother-in-law of the traveller, author and collector General Sir George Cockburn of Shanganagh Castle, Co. Dublin. Thomas Richard Phineas Riall (born 1960) is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Priory Group since April 2013. Biography Riall took over as the CEO of Priory Group in April 2013. Prior to that appointment, he had served as chief executive of Serco's global services business since June 2012. Serco is a UK company that provides a variety of services and products relating to defence, detention, aviation, and transport. Riall was previously divisional chief executive responsible for the company's home affairs division, which provides Gatso speed cameras to UK local authorities. Lucy Riall is an Irish historian. She was a professor of history at Birkbeck, University of London, and is currently a professor in the Department of History and Civilisation at the European University Institute in Florence. Biography Riall studied at the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge. She was a lecturer in Modern European history at the University of Essex before moving to Birkbeck. Since 2004 she has been editor of the journal ''European History Quarterly''. Among her many prestigious awards are a visiting professorship at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris and a senior fellowship at the University of Freiburg's Institute of Advanced Study. Matthew Henry Phineas Riall Sankey (9 November 1853 – 3 October 1925) was an Irish-born engineer and captain in the Royal Engineers, known as the creator of the Sankey diagram. Biography Sankey was born at Nenagh in County Tipperary in 1853 the son of General William Sankey, C.B. He received his first education in Switzerland and at Mr. Rippon's School at Woolwich. Here from 1871 to 1873 he attended the Royal Military Academy, and from 1874 to 1876 the School of Military Engineering in Chatham. In the last years of his studies Sankey started as research-assistant of the Royal Commission on Railway Accidents making calculations and experiments on railway-brakes and trails. After graduation he started at the British Army, first on the War Office on architectural design, then leading a drawing office of 16 draughtsmen in Manchester. Riall Salud Johnson (born April 20, 1978) is a former professional gridiron football player. Early years Riall grew up in Lynnwood, Washington, where he attended Mariner High School. At Mariner he was considered one of the top football prospects in the USA. College He attended Stanford University. In his junior year at Stanford he tied for the Pac-10 lead in sacks with 13. In his senior year he not only led the Pac-10, but he also tied for the most sacks in the nation with future Carolina Panthers star Julius Peppers.
