Rey De Reyes (2011)
Rey de Reyes 2011 (Spanish for "King of Kings") was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by AAA that took place on March 18, 2011, at Plaza de Toros Monumental in Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, Mexico. The event was the 15th event produced under the ''Rey de Reyes'' name and also the 15th time that the Rey de Reyes tournament was held. Production Background Starting in 1997 and every year since then the Mexican ''Lucha Libre'', or professional wrestling, company AAA has held a Rey de Reyes (Spanish for "King of Kings') show in the spring. The 1997 version was held in February, while all subsequent Rey de Reyes shows were held in March. As part of their annual Rey de Reyes event AAA holds the eponymious Rey de Reyes tournament to determine that specific year's ''Rey''. Antonio Peña Promotions, S.A. de C.V. d/b/a Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide is a Mexican Lucha Libre (professional wrestling) promotion based in Mexico City, Mexico. Commonly referred to as simply AAA (pronounced "triple A"; an abbreviation of its original name Asistencia Asesoría y Administración, Spanish for "Assistance, Assessment, and Administration"), the promotion was founded in 1992 when Antonio Peña broke away from Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) to set up a promotion, which allowed him more creative freedom. AAA Reina De Reinas Championship
The AAA Reina de Reinas Championship (literally "AAA Queen of Queens Championship", "AAA Women's Championship") is a singles women's professional wrestling championship promoted by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). It is the only females championship currently in AAA. Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. From its creation in 1999 to 2009, the title was put on the line every year during the eponymous "Reina de Reinas" tournament, in addition to traditional defenses. The tournament eventually returned in 2012, with Sexy Star becoming the first wrestler to successfully retain the title at the event. Just about any singles or melee match type can be adapted to tag teams; for example, hardcore tag team matches are commonplace. Octagoncito (born March 23, 1973) is a Mexican ''Luchador'' '' enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler who works for Lucha Libre AAA World Wide's (AAA) ''Mini-Estrella'' division. He is the second wrestler to work under the ring name Octagoncito, being given the name after the original Octagoncito left AAA, although he still wrestles under the name on the independent circuit. Mario Balbuena González (April 16, 1959 – May 7, 2017) -- better known under the ring names Gran Apache and El Apache -- was a Mexican ''luchador'', or professional wrestler and trainer. Balbuena worked for AAA / Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA) since 1996, both as a wrestler and a trainer. He was involved in training almost all young wrestlers who worked for the promotion during that period of time.
