Rey De Reyes (2001)
The Rey de Reyes 2001 (Spanish for "King of Kings") was the fifth annual Rey de Reyes professional wrestling tournament and show, produced by the Mexican wrestling promotion AAA. The event took place on March 30, 2001 in the Convention Center in Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, Mexico. The Rey de Reyes tournament consisted of a semi-final round of four four-man elimination matches and a final match with the winners of each of the semi-finals facing off in an elimination match until only one man remained. The final of the 2001 Rey de Reyes tournament pitted La Parka, Jr., Latin Lover, Abismo Negro and Heavy Metal against each other. The show featured two additional matches beyond the five Rey de Reyes tournament matches. Blue Demon Jr. (born July 19, 1966) is a Mexican professional wrestler. He is the adopted son of the original Blue Demon and is the first Mexican and the second masked wrestler to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship thus making him a one-time world champion. Lucha Libre
Lucha libre (, meaning "freestyle wrestling" or literally translated as "free fight") is the term used in Latin America for professional wrestling. Since its introduction to Mexico in the early 20th century, it has developed into a unique form of the genre, characterized by colorful masks, rapid sequences of holds and maneuvers, and "high-flying" maneuvers, some of which have been adopted in the United States, Japan, and elsewhere. The wearing of masks has developed special significance, and matches are sometimes contested in which the loser must permanently remove his mask, which is a wager with a high degree of weight attached. Professional Wrestling Tag Team Match Types
Much like the singles match, tag team professional wrestling matches can and have taken many forms. Just about any singles or melee match type can be adapted to tag teams; for example, hardcore tag team matches are commonplace. Alejandro Pérez Jiménez (May 15, 1975 – June 29, 2009) was a Mexican ''Mini-Estrella Luchador'', or midget professional wrestler who worked mainly under the name Espectro II. Alejandro's twin brother, Alberto, was also a midget professional wrestler who worked under the name "La Parkita", Alejandro had another brother, Mario Pérez Jiménez who worked as Espectrito. Alejandro was most known for working for Mexican professional wrestling promotions Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG), the Mexican independent circuit as well as working for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) where he was billed as "Mini Mankind", a miniature version of Mankind. Mini Abismo Negro (born November 21, 1978) is the ring name of a Mexican ''Luchador enmascarado'' who works in the ''Mini-Estrella'' division for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA). Mini Abismo Negro is a former, two time Mexican National Mini-Estrellas Champion and the former AAA World Mini-Estrella Champion, the only wrestler to hold both titles. Mascarita Dorada (Spanish: ''Little Golden Mask''; born February 19, 1982), is the ring name of a Mexican ''Luchador enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler, who works in the ''Mini-Estrella'' division, comparable to midget wrestling. He is also known for his tenure with WWE under the ring name El Torito (Spanish for ''The Little Bull''). In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience. In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done." AAA Reina De Reinas Championship
The AAA Reina de Reinas Championship (literally "AAA Queen of Queens Championship", "AAA Women's Championship") is a singles women's professional wrestling championship promoted by Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide (AAA). It is the only females championship currently in AAA. Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via a scripted ending to a match or awarded to a wrestler because of a storyline. From its creation in 1999 to 2009, the title was put on the line every year during the eponymous "Reina de Reinas" tournament, in addition to traditional defenses. The tournament eventually returned in 2012, with Sexy Star becoming the first wrestler to successfully retain the title at the event. The inaugural champion was Xóchitl Hamada, who was crowned after winning the original Reina de Reinas tournament in 1999.
