Fritz Reuter
Fritz Reuter (7 November 1810 – 12 July 1874; born as ''Heinrich Ludwig Christian Friedrich Reuter'') was a novelist from Northern Germany who was a prominent contributor to Low German literature. Early life Fritz Reuter was born at Stavenhagen in the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, a small country town where his father was mayor and sheriff (''Stadtrichter'') and, in addition to his official duties, carried on the work of a farmer. He was educated at home by private tutors and subsequently at Gymnasien in Mecklenburg-Strelitz and in Parchim. Education and student fraternities On 19 October 1831, Reuter began studying jurisprudence according to his father's wishes in Rostock. There he joined the Corps Vandalia Rostock, who expelled him again a short time later because of "rough behaviour" and "burschenschaft activities". Ernst Rudolf Johannes Reuter (29 July 1889 – 29 September 1953) was the mayor of West Berlin from 1948 to 1953, during the time of the Cold War. Biography Early years Reuter was born in Apenrade (Aabenraa), Province of Schleswig-Holstein (now in Denmark). He spent his childhood days in Leer where a public square is named after him. Reuter attended the universities of Münster and Marburg where he completed his studies in 1912 and passed the examinations as a teacher. Moreover, he was member in a fraternity called "SBV Frankonia Marburg". The same year he became a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). Reuter opposed Kaiser Wilhelm's regime at the start of the First World War. After being drafted, Reuter was sent to the Eastern front where he was wounded and captured by the Russians. Gabriele Reuter, who was widely read in her lifetime though now is almost forgotten, was known for her novel ''From a Good Family'' (Aus guter Familie, 1895), subtitled "the Passion of a Girl", which described a typical young woman of the Wilhelmine era. Other bestsellers were her novels ''Ellen of the Meadows'' (Ellen von der Weiden, 1900), the short story collection ''Women's Souls'' (Frauenseelen, 1901) and the novel ''The Americans'' (Der Amerikaner, 1907). Walter Reuter
Walter Reuter (b. January 4, 1906 - March 20, 2005) was a Mexican photojournalist of German origin. Reuter arrived to Mexico in 1942, after fleeing the rise of the Nazis in Germany, and the defeat of the Republicans in Spain. Having started his career in Europe, he introduced modern photojournalism techniques into Mexico and is best known for his work documenting twenty ethnicities of Mexico's indigenous people. In 1986, the Museo de Arte Moderno held a retrospective of his work and he was a member of the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana. Otto Sigfrid Reuter (2 September 1876 – 5 April 1945) was a German writer and organiser who was central in the neopagan current within the ''völkisch'' movement. He founded some of the earliest organisations for Germanic neopaganism, which were rooted in the racial ideologies of the ''völkisch'' movement. Irving Jacob Reuter (1885–1972) was an automotive leader in the early 1900s. In 1925 he was named general manager and president of Oldsmobile after rising through the ranks at Remy Electric and then General Motors after the two companies merged in 1918. He was from Indianapolis, Indiana, where he met and married Janet (or Jeannette) Reuter née Graham on Feb. 24, 1909., Irving Reuter graduated with an engineering degree in 1907 from Purdue University College of Engineering. His knowledge of the automobile industry was reflected both in managerial duties, and by the six patents he obtained. They include inventions related to such developments as an electric generator, an ignition apparatus, a system for supplying electricity, an ignition coil, a roadster rear seat, and an engine starting device. Reuter Organ Company is a pipe organ builder located in Lawrence, Kansas. History Establishment The Reuter Organ Company was founded in 1917 by A.C. Reuter, Earl Schwartz and Henry Jost as the Reuter-Schwartz Organ Company in Trenton, Illinois. A.C. Reuter held positions at Wicks, Pilcher and Casavant Frères from about 1904. Reuter's nephew, A.G. Sabol, left Casavant to work for his uncle's firm shortly after the company's founding. The company had four other employees at the time of its founding besides Reuter and Sabol, they were Jake Schaeffer, a voicer from Casavant, E.J. "Pat" Netzer, wood worker, William Zweifel, pipe maker, and Frank Jost, console builder. Edzard Hans Wilhelm Reuter (born 16 February 1928) was the CEO of Daimler-Benz from 1987 to 1995. Edzard Reuter was born in Berlin, his father was the popular social democratic politician and mayor of Berlin from 1948 to 1953, Ernst Reuter. His mother Hanna Reuter née Kleinert was a secretary at the party newspaper ''Vorwärts''. Stefan Reuter (born 16 October 1966) is a German football executive and former player who played as a defender or midfielder. He is the general manager of Bundesliga club FC Augsburg. Timothy Alan Reuter (25 January 1947 – 14 October 2002), grandson of the former mayor of Berlin Ernst Reuter, was a German-British historian who specialized in the study of medieval Germany, particularly the social, military and ecclesiastical institutions of the Ottonian and Salian periods (10th–12th centuries). Reuter received his D.Phil. from Oxford in medieval history under the supervision of Karl Leyser (d. 1992), another leading Anglophone scholar of German history.
