''Return from the Sea'' is a 1954 American drama film directed by Lesley Selander and starring Jan Sterling, Neville Brand and John Doucette. It was based on a novelette ''No Home of His Own'' by Jacland Marmur that appeared in ''Saturday Evening Post'' in 1952. Filming took place in San Diego and on the . Lesley Selander
Lesley Selander (May 26, 1900 – December 5, 1979) was an American film director of Western (genre), Westerns and adventure film, adventure movies. His career as director, spanning 127 feature films and dozens of TV episodes, lasted from 1936 to 1968. Before that, Selander was assistant director on films such as ''The Cat and the Fiddle (film), The Cat and the Fiddle'' (1934), ''A Night at the Opera (film), A Night at the Opera'' (1935), and Fritz Lang's ''Fury (1936 film), Fury'' (1936). John Pickard (American Actor)
John M. Pickard (June 25, 1913 – August 4, 1993) was an American actor who appeared primarily in television westerns. Early life Pickard was born in Lascassas in Rutherford County, near Murfreesboro in Middle Tennessee. He graduated from the Nashville Conservatory in Nashville, Tennessee. His first acting roles were small parts in films, mostly uncredited, beginning in 1936 as a dueling soldier in the picture '' Mary of Scotland'', based on the 16th century queen, Mary of Scotland. From 1942 to 1946, Pickard served in the United States Navy, having been the model for naval recruitment posters during World War II. Carol Brewster
Carol Brewster (born Miriam Elizabeth Hechler; February 25, 1927 – February 1, 2013) was an American actress and model. After she had a role as a model in a ''Ziegfeld Follies'' film, Brewster's first acting role came in ''The Barkleys of Broadway'' (1949). In 1955, Brewster came down with polio, causing her to spend 29 days in an iron lung and nine months in a wheel chair. In 1957, she acted on stage in Los Angeles, with a starring role in ''The Darling Darlinis'' at the Ivar Theater. During a hiatus in her acting career, Brewster began designing purses, an endeavor that grew into a business that had 10 employees. Death Brewster died at 85 in Big Bear Lake, California on February 1, 2013. Herbert Vigran (June 5, 1910 – November 29, 1986) was an American character actor in Hollywood from the 1930s to the 1980s. Over his 50-year career, he made over 350 television and film appearances. Early years Vigran was a native of Cincinnati, but his family moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, when he was 16. He graduated with an LL.B. degree from Indiana University, but later chose to pursue acting. Stage Billed as Herbert Vigran, he appeared on Broadway in three plays from 1935 through 1938. Ward Wood
Ward Wood (August 8, 1924 – November 3, 2001), was an American actor and television writer. Wood was probably best known for his recurring role as police Lt. Art Malcolm in the TV series '' Mannix'' from 1968 to 1975. Wood was born in Grangeville, Idaho (where his grandfather had been the county sheriff from 1891 until 1893). He was introduced to acting at an early age in Lewiston, Idaho by his mother and their family moved to California about 1935. He broke into movie acting in 1943, but very quickly took a hiatus to enlist as a Marine in World War II to avenge the death of his brother Charles, who was also an actor and also a Marine, after Charles was killed in action in the Pacific. After the war, Ward Wood returned to acting in 1947, and was active until the early 1980s. He was married to Peggy Jolene Mosley and Lynn Sherman. Career Little is known about this man who appeared in over 100 films between 1943 and 1959, according to the Internet Movie Database. Lloyd Corrigan (October 16, 1900 – November 5, 1969) was an American film and television actor, producer, screenwriter, and director who began working in films in the 1920s. The son of actress Lillian Elliott, Corrigan directed films, usually mysteries such as '' Daughter of the Dragon'' starring Anna May Wong (one of a trilogy of Fu Manchu movies for which he has writing credits), before dedicating himself more to acting in 1938.
