''Resolution'' is the second studio album by American hip hop group The Perceptionists. It was released on Mello Music Group on July 28, 2017. Music videos were created for "Hose Down" and "Free at Last". Background Shortly after the release of The Perceptionists' debut studio album, ''Black Dialogue'', on Definitive Jux in 2005, DJ Fakts One left the group. The group's remaining members, Mr. Lif and Akrobatik, subsequently released solo material and collaborative material with other artists. In 2017, the two got signed to Mello Music Group and returned with a studio album, titled ''Resolution''. The Perceptionists
The Perceptionists is an American hip hop group from Boston, Massachusetts. The group initially had three members: Mr. Lif, Akrobatik, and DJ Fakts One. The group was signed to the Definitive Jux label. In 2005, the trio released a studio album, ''Black Dialogue''. Shortly after the release of ''Black Dialogue'', DJ Fakts One left the group. Mello Music Group (MMG) is an American independent record label based in Tucson, Arizona. ''Black Dialogue'' is the debut studio album by American hip hop group The Perceptionists. It was released on Definitive Jux on March 22, 2005. Critical reception At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted average score out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, ''Black Dialogue'' received an average score of 81, based on 7 reviews, indicating "universal acclaim". Definitive Jux
Definitive Jux was a record label based in New York City. It was co-founded in 1999 by El-P and Amaechi Uzoigwe. History Definitive Jux was initially known as Def Jux. However, popular hip hop label Def Jam Recordings sued Def Jux over the name similarity in 2001. This lawsuit was settled out of court and the name was officially changed to Definitive Jux. In February 2010, El-P announced that the label, although it will carry on selling its catalog and merchandise, would be put "on hiatus" as a traditional record label, and that it would be going through some changes in order to keep up with the evolution of the music industry. He also announced that he was stepping down as artistic director of Definitive Jux to focus on producing and being a full-time artist. Fakts One (born April 6, 1977) is an American hip hop DJ & producer from Boston, Massachusetts. Fakts One was a founding member of the hip hop group The Perceptionists with long-time collaborators Akrobatik and Mr. Lif but left the group shortly after release of their first album Black Dialogue. History Raised in the historic Dudley Square (now Nubian Square) section of Roxbury, Fakts One grew up surrounded by highly influential local radio and DJs, most notably WILD 1090AM and local university stations WZBC, WMBR, WRBB, and Emerson College's WERS 88.9FM where he would spend his collegiate years (1995–1999) in Emerson's undergrad program.
