Cole Prize
The Frank Nelson Cole Prize, or Cole Prize for short, is one of twenty-two prizes awarded to mathematicians by the American Mathematical Society, one for an outstanding contribution to algebra, and the other for an outstanding contribution to number theory.. Hiraku Nakajima
Hiraku Nakajima (Japanese: 中島 啓 ''Nakajima Hiraku''; born November 30, 1962) is a Japanese mathematician, and a professor of the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe at the University of Tokyo. Chern Medal
The Chern Medal is an international award recognizing outstanding lifelong achievement of the highest level in the field of mathematics. The prize is given at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM), which is held every four years. Introduction It is named in honor of the late Chinese mathematician Shiing-Shen Chern. The award is a joint effort of the International Mathematical Union (IMU) and the Chern Medal Foundation (CMF) to be bestowed in the same fashion as the IMU's other three awards (the Fields Medal, the Abacus Medal, and the Gauss Prize), i.e. at the opening ceremony of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM), which is held every four years. Kazuya Kato
is a Japanese mathematician. He grew up in the prefecture of Wakayama in Japan. He attended college at the University of Tokyo, from which he also obtained his master's degree in 1975, and his PhD in 1980. He was a professor at Tokyo University, Tokyo Institute of Technology and Kyoto University. He joined the faculty of the University of Chicago in 2009. He has contributed to number theory and related parts of algebraic geometry. His first work was in the higher-dimensional generalisations of local class field theory using algebraic K-theory. Wolf Prize In Mathematics
The Wolf Prize in Mathematics is awarded almost annually by the Wolf Foundation in Israel. It is one of the six Wolf Prizes established by the Foundation and awarded since 1978; the others are in Agriculture, Chemistry, Medicine, Physics and Arts. According to a reputation survey conducted in 2013 and 2014, the Wolf Prize in Mathematics is the third most prestigious international academic award in mathematics, after the Abel Prize and the Fields Medal. Kaoru Ono (mathematician)
Kaoru Ono (小野 薫, ''Ono Kaoru'', born 1962) is a Japanese mathematician, specializing in symplectic geometry. He is a professor at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) at Kyoto University. Ono received from the University of Tokyo his undergraduate degree in 1984, his master's degree in 1987, and his Ph.D. in 1990. Within symplectic geometry, his research has focused on Floer theory and holomorphic symplectic geometry involving holomorphic curves and pseudoholomorphic curves and their applications. He has collaborated extensively with Kenji Fukaya, Oh Yong-Geun, and Hiroshi Ohta (see Fukaya category). Takurō Mochizuki
Takurō Mochizuki (望月 拓郎, born 28 August 1972) is a Japanese mathematician at Kyoto University. Overview As a student at the University of Kyoto in 1994, Mochizuki left his undergraduate studies early to become a graduate student in mathematics at the same university. He completed his Ph.D. in 1999, and joined the faculty of Osaka City University, returning to Kyoto in 2004. Shinichi Mochizuki
is a Japanese mathematician working in number theory and arithmetic geometry. He is one of the main contributors to anabelian geometry. His contributions include his solution of the Grothendieck conjecture in anabelian geometry about hyperbolic curves over number fields. Mochizuki has also worked in Hodge–Arakelov theory and p-adic Teichmüller theory. Mochizuki developed inter-universal Teichmüller theory, which has attracted attention from non-mathematicians due to claims it provides a resolution of the ''abc'' conjecture.
