''Replay'' is the final studio album by the English rock band The Outfield The Outfield were an English rock band based in London, England. The band achieved success in the mid-1980s and are best remembered for their hit single, " Your Love". The band's lineup consisted of guitarist John Spinks, vocalist and bassist ..., released 2011. This was the last album that the band released before songwriter and guitarist John Spinks died from liver cancer. The lead single, "California Sun", was a regional number one AOR chart hit. A limited advanced release of the band's second single, "A Long, Long Time Ago", reached number one on Worldwide FM ClassX Radio's AOR chart in the second week of August 2011. The Outfield
The Outfield were an English rock band based in London, England. The band achieved success in the mid-1980s and are best remembered for their hit single, " Your Love". The band's lineup consisted of guitarist John Spinks, vocalist and bassist Tony Lewis, and drummer Alan Jackman. They had an unusual experience for a British band in that they enjoyed commercial success in the US, but never in their homeland. The band began recording during the mid-1980s, and released their first album, ''Play Deep'', in 1985 through Columbia Records. The album reached No. 9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 list and then reached triple platinum in the United States. The band's single "Your Love" reached No. 6 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 as well as No. 7 on the Mainstream Rock chart, and it became their signature song. ''Any Time Now'' is an album by British rock band The Outfield. Two versions of this album were released: one sold exclusively through the band's Web site and Tower Records, and the other issued by Sidewinder Records and distributed to music retail stores everywhere. The latter version included eight tracks from the Exclusive Web Edition plus four new songs— "Wasted", "Long Walk Back (From Nowhere)", "I Can't Wait", and "Peace." John Spinks (musician)
John Frederick Spinks (28 November 1953 − 9 July 2014) was an English songwriter and musician. He was best known as the guitarist and songwriter for The Outfield. Early life and career John Spinks was born on the East End of London in November 1953. Spinks, Tony Lewis, and Alan Jackman first played together in the 1970s band Sirius B. After rehearsing for six months, the group disbanded due to the advent of punk rock. In the 1980s, Spinks recorded several demos under the name Baseball Boys, a name chosen because it closely resembled a gang called The Baseball Furies from the film '' The Warriors''. "Just to be outrageous, I put what I felt was a stupid name on the demos," said Spinks, "and the people I took them to said, `Sounds great. Can we see the band?` And there wasn't really a band."
