"Remember Me" is a 1997 song by British DJ Alexis 'Lex' Blackmore under his pseudonym Blue Boy, released as a single only. Built around samples performed by American singer Marlena Shaw, the song peaked at 8 on the UK Singles Chart in February 1997 and No. 2 on the US ''Billboard'' Hot Dance Club Play chart. It was a top-10 hit in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland. On the Eurochart Hot 100, the track reached No. 13. Background The track originally appeared on Mark Farina's remix album ''Mushroom Jazz Volume One''. Jive Records acquired it and earmarked it for single release. Blue Boy (DJ)
Blue Boy (also styled The Blue Boy) is a pseudonym for the British DJ Alexis 'Lex' Blackmore. He is best known for " Remember Me", which peaked at No. 8 in the UK in 1997. Blackmore first worked as a DJ in Glasgow and London, touring with the British electronic group the Shamen in 1991. After working in various guises, Blackmore established the Blue Boy name in 1995 with the single "Sandman" on Ascension Records, followed by the four-track EP, ''Scattered Emotions''. A re-release of "Sandman" in August 1997 reached No. 25 on the UK Singles Chart. "Apparently Nothin" is a song by British/American acid jazz band Young Disciples. It features singer Carleen Anderson, who also co-wrote it and was released in 1991 as the second single from their only album, '' Road to Freedom'' (1991). The song samples "Here I Am Baby" by the Marvelettes and is inspired by the Gulf War. It peaked at number 13 on the UK Singles Chart, but on the UK Dance Singles Chart, it was a even more successful, peaking at number two. Additionally, it was a top 20 hit in Luxembourg and a top 40 hit in the Netherlands. The band performed the song in the British music chart television programme ''Top of the Pops''. Young Disciples was a British / American acid jazz band, formed in London in 1990 by Carleen Anderson ( vocals and keyboards), Marco Nelson (bass, guitar and organ) and Femi Williams (percussion and programming). Their most famous hit was the single "Apparently Nothin'" ( Talkin' Loud, 1991), which helped launch Anderson's solo career when the band disbanded. James Hyman (born 1970), is the owner and founder of HyMag, a radio and television presenter, music supervisor and DJ. Hyman put aside his university to work at MTV Europe despite his parents' misgivings (partly because of his father's glimpse of the music industry through his cousin Brian Epstein). ''Record Mirror'' was a British weekly music newspaper between 1954 and 1991 for pop fans and record collectors. Launched two years after the ''NME'', it never attained the circulation of its rival. Scat Singing
In vocal jazz, scat singing is vocal improvisation with wordless vocables, nonsense syllables or without words at all. In scat singing, the singer improvises melodies and rhythms using the voice as an instrument rather than a speaking medium. This is different from vocalese, which uses recognizable lyrics that are sung to pre-existing instrumental solos.
