Reformed And Presbyterian Churches Fellowship In Myanmar
The Reformed and Presbyterian Churches Fellowship in Myanmar (RPCFM) is a national ecumenical organization, bringing together Presbyterian and continental reformed Protestants incorporated in Myanmar. History In 2005, a group of 10 Presbyterian and Continental Reformed denominations created the Fraternity of Presbyterian and Reformed Churches in Myanmar (FIPRM). In 2008, the Society applied to join International Conference of Reformed Churches. In addition, the organization has established contact with the Reformed Churches in the Netherlands (Liberated). By 2013, the organization became a member of World Reformed Fellowship, as well as most of its member churches. Ecumenism (), also spelled oecumenism, is the concept and principle that Christians who belong to different Christian denominations should work together to develop closer relationships among their churches and promote Christian unity. The adjective ''ecumenical'' is thus applied to any initiative that encourages greater cooperation and union among Christian denominations and churches. Christian Reformed Church In Myanmar
The Christian Reformed Church in Myanmar is a Reformed church of Myanmar, and was founded in 1985 by Pastor Chan Thleng who was formerly ordained in the Presbyterian Church in Myanmar. He belongs to the Matu tribe in Southern Chin State born in 1954, becoming Christian in 1974. In 1985 he founded the United Christian Church after he graduated from Calvin Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, MI. He returned to Burma and changed the denomination's name to the Christian Reformed Church. It has 52 congregations and 13 preaching points with more than 6,000 members. The church is divided into 10 classes. Most of the evangelists work among Buddhist and Animist people. The Church recognizes the Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, Canons of Dort and the Ecumenical Creeds. To train pastors the church founded the Reformed Theological seminary in Yangon in 1997. The United Reformed Churches in Myanmar is a confessional conservative Calvinist denomination in Myanmar. It has 16 local churches (5 in Yangon Classis, 5 in Kalay Classis and 6 in Falam Claasis) and two mission fields. There are 17 ordained clergy in 2019. The Evangelical Reformed Church of Myanmar is a Reformed, Christian Church in the country of Myanmar (formerly Burma). It holds to the Westminster Confession of Faith History The church was formally organised in 1998. It was established by Rev. Dr. Thang Bwee. Main activities and church planting is located in the Southern part of Chin State. For many years the church struggled without help. In the early 2000s, the denomination suffered a split because some pastors questioned the Reformed doctrine of church government, preferring one-man leadership over their churches. About one-third of the congregations withdrew, mostly to Pentecostal Churches. The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Myanmar was founded by Reverend Robert Thawm Luai in 1983. Members of this Church were once affiliated with different Christian denominations and churches, eventually seceding due to liberalism, ecumenism and charismatism. The World Reformed Fellowship (WRF) is an ecumenical Christian organization which promotes unity between confessional Calvinist churches around the world.
