Reddy (also transliterated as ''Raddi'', ''Reddi'', ''Reddiar'', ''Reddappa'', ''Reddy'') is a caste that originated in India, predominantly settled in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. They are classified as a forward caste. The origin of the Reddy has been linked to the Rashtrakutas, although opinions vary. They were feudal overlords and peasant proprietors. Historically they have been the land-owning aristocracy of the villages. Traditionally, they were a diverse community of merchants and cultivators. Their prowess as rulers and warriors is well documented in Telugu history. The Reddy dynasty (1325–1448 CE) ruled coastal and central Andhra for over a hundred years. Neelam Sanjiva Reddy
Neelam Sanjiva Reddy (; 19 May 1913 – 1 June 1996) was an Indian politician who served as the sixth President of India, serving from 1977 to 1982. Beginning a long political career with the Indian National Congress Party in the independence movement, he went on to hold several key offices in independent India — as Deputy Chief minister of Andhra state and the first Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh, a two-time Speaker of the Lok Sabha and a Union Minister— before becoming the Indian president. Born in present-day Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh, Reddy completed his schooling at Adayar and joined the Government Arts College at Anantapur. He quit to become an Indian independence activist and was jailed for participating in the Quit India Movement. Reddy Foster
Oscar E. "Reddy" Foster (August 1864 – December 19, 1908) was a Major League Baseball (MLB) player for the New York Giants in 1896. His only MLB appearance was on June 3 of that season. He primarily played catcher in his minor league career, which spanned 17 seasons. Foster was a manager as well. He was known for his fiery temper and his heavy drinking. Foster died on December 19, 1908, when he deliberately shot himself in the head with a shotgun. Early minor league career Oscar E. Foster, nicknamed Reddy, was born sometime in August 1864 in Richmond, Virginia. In 1890, he played 27 games as an outfielder for the Lebanon, Pennsylvania, entry in the Eastern Interstate League. Reddy Grey
Romer Carl "Reddy" Grey (April 8, 1875 – November 9, 1934) was a professional baseball player. He played one game in Major League Baseball in 1903 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. Baseball career Grey began his baseball career in 1895 with the Jackson Jaxons of the Michigan State League. Overall, he played nine seasons professionally. In his final season, 1903, he was playing for the Worcester Riddlers of the Eastern League when the Pirates acquired him on loan on May 28. He played left field for the Pirates in that day's game, got one hit and one walk in four plate appearances (for a career on-base percentage of .500), then returned to Worcester. Reddy Mack
Joseph McNamara (May 2, 1866 – December 30, 1916), known professionally as Reddy Mack, was an Irish-born professional baseball player. He played professional baseball from 1885 to 1890, mainly as a second baseman. Mack played the first four years of his career with the Louisville Colonels, before joining the Baltimore Orioles for the final years of his career. Through his career, he proved to be a mediocre hitter and fielder, except for the 1887 season, where he hit .308 with 147 hits in 128 games. Mack died in Newport, Kentucky from an accidental fall.
