Red Sky (2014 Film)
''Red Sky'' (previously known as ''Kerosene Cowboys'') is a 2014 straight-to-DVD action/thriller film directed by Mario Van Peebles and starring Cam Gigandet, Shane West and Rachael Leigh Cook. Adam Prince and Van Peebles wrote the screenplay based on a story by Nikolay Suslov and Dave Riggs, who in turn based the story on characters from the novel ''Kerosene Cowboys: Manning the Spare'' by Randy Arrington. It is a Russian-American co-production ( Svarog Films and Afterburner Films), supported by both Russian and American military forces. The film has been described as a "'' Top Gun''-style pic" about pilots of an elite naval attack squadron. Mario Van Peebles
Mario Van Peebles (born January 15, 1957) is an American film director and actor best known for directing and starring in ''New Jack City'' in 1991 and '' USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage'' in 2016. He is the son of actor and filmmaker Melvin Van Peebles, whom he portrayed in the 2003 biopic ''Baadasssss!'', which he also co-wrote and directed. Early life and education Mario Van Peebles was born in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of writer, director, actor and musician Melvin Van Peebles and Maria Marx.
