Read's Island
Read's Island is an island situated just outside the Ancholme sluice, on the Humber Estuary in England. The Lincolnshire Trust suggest it is an artificial island, and a report from 1979 says that it was reclaimed. However, the site was for many years a large sandbank going by the name of "Old Warp" and is shown on the 1734 Customs Map of the Humber where Read's Island now lays, and extending further downstream. A local history website about Barton-Upon-Humber indicates that both are true. It says that two wrecks, including one which locals deliberately scuttled, helped to form the island off South Ferriby. The scuttling was to protect the banks on the southern shore. In 1872, it was described as being 300 acres, in 1886 it was 491 acres whilst in 2008 it was 200 acres. Flooding in 2007 left the island depleted of areas for avocets to breed, so a programme of rebuilding was instituted. Arthur Timothy Read is a fictional anthropomorphic aardvark created by the author Marc Brown. The main character of the book and television series ''Arthur'', he is in the third grade and lives in the fictional city of Elwood City. Chicago-Read Mental Health Center (CRMHC, often called simply Read) is a state-run inpatient JCAHO-accredited facility, located in the community of Dunning, Chicago, Dunning, northwest of Chicago, Illinois. In the context of gender, passing is someone being perceived as a gender they identify as or are attempting to be seen as, rather than their sex assigned at birth. Historically, this was common among women who served in occupations where they were prohibited, such as in combat roles in the military. For transgender people, it is when a person is perceived as a cisgender person of their gender instead of the sex they were assigned at birth. For example, a transgender man is passing if he is perceived as a cisgender man. The appropriateness of the term ''passing'', and the desirability of blending into society, are debated within the transgender community. Read codes are a clinical terminology system that was in widespread use in General Practice in the United Kingdom until around 2018, when NHS England switched to using SNOMED CT. Read codes are still in use in Scotland and in England were permitted for use in NHS secondary care settings, such as dentistry and mental health care until 31 March 2020.
