''Razia Sultan'' was an Indian period drama serial which aired on &TV from 6 March 2015. The main role of empress Razia Sultana was played by Pankhuri Awasthy Rode. The serial is about Razia Sultan (Sultan Razia), the only female ruler of the Delhi Sultanate. It talks about a young lady and her dilemmas with everyday life. The serial was introduced by Shah Rukh Khan as ''Sutradhar''. The song titled ''Mere Maula'' of the serial was sung by Supriya Joshi. Plot The show focuses on the life of Razia Sultan. She was made the ruler by Sultan Iltutmish himself. In spite of having many sons, he felt that Razia would make a more capable ruler. The show later focuses on 13th century India and Razia's struggles and dilemmas as a Sultan, and as a woman in daily life. Ala ud-Din Masud Shah (died 10 June 1246, ) was the seventh sultan of the Delhi Sultanate. Life He was the son of Rukn ud-Din Firuz (1236), son of Sultan Illtutmish and Shah Turkan and the nephew of Sultan Raziyyat (1236–40). After his predecessor and uncle Muiz ud-Din Bahram was murdered by the army in 1242 after years of disorder, the chiefs chose for him to become the next ruler of Delhi. Rukn-ud-din Firuz ( fa, رکن‌الدین فیروز), also transliterated as Rukn al-Din Firoz (died 19 November 1236), was a ruler of Delhi sultanate for less than seven months in 1236. As a prince, he had administered the Badaun and Lahore provinces of the Sultanate. He ascended the throne after the death of his father Iltutmish, a powerful Mamluk ruler who had established the Sultanate as the most powerful kingdom in northern India. However, Ruknuddin spent his time in pursuing pleasure, and left his mother Shah Turkan in control of the administration. Shah Turkan (13th-century) was a concubine of Iltutmish, the Mamluk ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, and the mother of his successor, Ruknuddin Firuz. After the death of Iltutmish, Ruknuddin indulged himself in the pursuit of pleasure and left his mother to handle the affairs of the state. Nasiruddin Mahmud (eldest Son Of Iltutmish)
Nāṣir ad-Dīn Maḥmūd ( fa, ; r. 1227–1229) was the eldest son of the Delhi Sultan Shamsuddin Iltutmish and his chief consort Turkan Khatun, (as the court historian Minhaj-i Siraj Juzjani clearly mentioned in the Tabaqat-i Nasiri, the only contemporary source of history of that time), the daughter of Qutb ud-Din Aibak.
