Hizb Rateb
The Hizb Rateb ( ar, الحزب الراتب) is a collective recitation of Quran or dhikr or dua or Wird (Sufism), wird done by murids and saliks in islamic sufism. Presentation The ''Hizb Rateb'' is a group Tilawa (Quran), tilawa of the Quran with one voice, in mosques, Zawiya (institution), zawiyas, kuttabs and Madrasa, Quranic schools. This custom has been practised in the Maghreb countries since the tenth hijri century under the Almohad Caliphate, after Sheikh created the rules for collective reading with one tone. It has an allocated and known times, because it may be recitated after the Fajr prayer or after the Maghrib prayer. It may also be recitated before the Zuhr prayer or before the Asr prayer. Thus, in the countries of the Maghreb, the muslims used to recite the Quran together in what is known as the ''Hizb Rateb'', in line with the current custom in these states. Rifaʽi Ratib
Rifai Ratib (also ''Rifai raatheeb, Hadra rifaiyya'') is a spiritual mortification ritual performed by followers of the Rifa’i Tariqa. ''Byths'' or ''Ratheebs'' are sung during the ritual. There are more than twenty different ''byths'' being used. The daf is the main musical instruments used in Rifa’i Ratib. During heightened states of Rifai Ratib, Rifai followers were noted to have eaten live snakes, entered ovens filled with fire and ridden on lions. Followers have been seen thrusting iron spikes and glass into their bodies. The ritual consists of acts like piercing parts of one's own body like the tongue, the ear, and the stomach with knives and sharp-edged steel tools. Mohamed Mustapha Ali Masfaka ( ar, محمد مصطفى علي مسفقة; born 1962), better known as Abu Ratib (), is a Syrian Nasheed singer of Islamic and Arabic music based on classical Arab poetry. Early life Masfaka was born in Aleppo, Syria. From an early age, he was immersed in musical traditions of the Arab world. At a young age, he joined the Arab Music Institute in Aleppo, Syria where he studied musical notation (Solfège) and learned to play the violin. Abu Ratib Masfaka studied broadcasting and television direction in Amman, Jordan, and obtained experience in the broadcasting engineering. Career As Masfaka balanced music with a growing interest in Islam, his work moved in a spiritual direction. He joined the band of the singer Abi Dujanah for religious singing, until he founded Al-Huda band in 1981 and began issuing the albums of Islamic singing. Aisha Rateb ( ar, عائشة راتب; February 22, 1928 – May 4, 2013) was an Egyptian lawyer, politician, and Egypt's first female ambassador. She also was a professor of international law at Cairo University. Biography Rateb was born in Cairo to a middle-class, educated family. Education When she attended college, she first studied literature at Cairo University, but transferred to law after only a week of studies. Rateb graduated from Cairo University in 1949, went briefly to Paris for further education and then received her PhD in law in 1955. Rateb applied to become a judge on the Conseil de'Etat (the highest judicial body in Egypt) in 1949, and was rejected because of her gender. The prime minister of the time, Hussein Serry Pasha, said that having a woman judge was "against the traditions of society". Gamil Ratib ( ar, جميل راتب; 18 August 1926 – 19 September 2018) was an Egyptian actor. He appeared in television and film productions and briefly in theater over a 65-year career. He was known for numerous villainous roles and his appearance in the English-language epic historical drama film ''Lawrence of Arabia''.
