Bramble Raspberry
BlackBerry is a discontinued brand of handheld devices and related mobile services, originally developed and maintained by the Canadian company Research In Motion (RIM, later known as BlackBerry Limited) until 2016. The first BlackBerry device launched in 1999 in North America, running on the Mobitex network (later also DataTAC) and became very popular because of its "always on" state and ability to send and receive email messages wirelessly. The BlackBerry pioneered push notifications and popularized the practise of "thumb typing" using its QWERTY keyboard, something that would become a trademark feature of the line. In its early years, the BlackBerry proved to be a major advantage over the (typically) one-way communication pagers and it also removed the need for users to tether to personal computers. It became especially used in the corporate world in the US and Canada. RIM debuted the BlackBerry in Europe in September 2001, but it had less appeal there where text messaging us ...

Blowing A Raspberry
Blowing a raspberry, also known as giving a Bronx cheer, is to make a noise similar to flatulence that may signify derision. It is made by placing the tongue between the lips and blowing. A raspberry when used with the tongue is not used in any human language as a building block of words, apart from jocular exceptions such as the name of the comic-book character Joe Btfsplk. However, the vaguely similar bilabial trill (essentially blowing a raspberry with one's lips) is a regular consonant sound in a few dozen languages scattered around the world. Spike Jones and His City Slickers used a "birdaphone" to create this sound on their recording of "Der Fuehrer's Face", repeatedly lambasting Adolf Hitler with: "We'll Heil! (Bronx cheer) Heil! (Bronx cheer) Right in Der Fuehrer's Face!" In the terminology of phonetics, the raspberry has been described as a voiceless Linguolabial consonant, linguolabial trill consonant, trill, transcribed in the International Phonetic Alphabet, and as ...

Raspberry, British Columbia
Raspberry is an unincorporated community in the West Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. On the northeast side of the Columbia River adjacent to the mouth of Norns (formerly Pass) Creek, the residential area is part of Greater Castlegar. Sproat's Landing In 1888, Thomas Alexander Sproat preempted 320 acres, which straddled the creek mouth. Sproat's Landing was a key stopping point for sternwheelers soon passing regularly to northern points. The sheltered pond area provided a natural crossroads for the northwestward Columbia River, northward Pass Creek track, and northeastward Kootenay River. The original townsite is today's Castlegar sewage lagoons, and the landing was immediately south. Within a year, a ferry operated to the future Castlegar townsite. Thomas appears to have acted as a front for his younger brother Gilbert Malcolm Sproat, and Arthur S. Farwell, both barred from real estate speculation as prominent public servants. At that time, Gilbert created a g ...

Raspberries (band)
The Raspberries were an American pop rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1970. They had a run of success in the early 1970s music scene with their pop rock sound, which AllMusic later described as featuring "exquisitely crafted melodies and achingly gorgeous harmonies." The members were known for their clean-cut public image and matching suits, which brought them teenybopper attention as well as scorn from some mainstream media outlets as " uncool". The group drew influence from the British Invasion era—especially the Beatles, the Who, the Hollies, and the Small Faces—and its mod sensibility. In both the US and the UK, the Raspberries helped pioneer the power pop music style that took off after the group disbanded. They also have had a following among professional musicians such as Jack Bruce, Ringo Starr, and Courtney Love. The group's "classic" lineup consisted of Eric Carmen (vocals, guitars, bass, piano), Wally Bryson (guitars), Dave Smalley (guitars, bass) and Ji ...
