Rasmus Ankersen
Rasmus Ankersen (born 22 September 1983) is an author, public speaker, director of football at Southampton and president of Göztepe. He is the co-founder and CEO of Sport Republic, the major shareholder of EFL Championship club Southampton and TFF First League club Göztepe. Ankersen was Director of Football at Brentford between 2015 and 2020. He also has a part-time role as chairman of Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland. Early football career Ankersen had a short career as a professional football player with FC Midtjylland in Denmark, before suffering a serious knee injury in his first senior game. He then studied for UEFA's A Licence, and became the assistant-coach for the under-17 team at a club. Brentford owner Matthew Benham became the majority shareholder of FC Midtjylland in 2014 and installed Ankersen as chairman of the club. Matthew Alexander Benham (born May 1968) is a British businessman who is the owner of English Premier League club Brentford FC and FC Midtjylland in Denmark. He is also the founder and owner of Smartodds, a statistical research company for professional gamblers, and owner of Matchbook betting exchange. A graduate of Oxford University in physics who worked in finance in the City of London, he is widely known for his unorthodox data analytics-driven approach to decision-making in football. FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020.
