Rare And Exotic Feline Registry
The Rare and Exotic Feline Registry (REFR) is a cat registry founded in 1984. The organization specializes in cats "derived from (or alleged to derive from) hybrids with wildcat species". It has recognized unique breeds including the Desert Lynx, Highland Lynx, Alpine Lynx, American Lynx, Mojave Spotted, and Bramble. When the original owner died, the registry was sold to a southern California cat breeder. REFR is a "paper registry only" and is not recognized by any of the major cat associations, such as TICA (The International Cat Association) or CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association). Walnut Cove, North Carolina
Walnut Cove is a town in Stokes County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 1,536 at the 2020 census. It is the home of Family Pharmacy and the Walnut Cove Springfest, which draws many visitors to the area. Festival-organizers marked 1889, the town's incorporation date, but the town's roots date to the mid-18th century when it was known as Town Fork. Town Fork settlers formed a bond with Moravians in Bethania and Bethabara. Eventually, William Lash, a Moravian settler at Bethania, bought land along the Town Fork Creek, which later developed into a large plantation named Walnut Cove. The Town was a railroad center in its former years, and today remnants of the old Train Depot still stand on Depot Street. Highland Lynx
The Highlander (also known as the Highlander Shorthair, and originally as the Highland Lynx) is a new breed of cat. The unique appearance of the Highlander comes from the deliberate cross between the Desert Lynx and the Jungle Curl breeds, also recently developed. Although both of these cats claim wild species bloodlines, both have been found to be completely domestic cats. Description The Highlander originated as a crossbreed of the experimental Desert Lynx breed and the Jungle Curl, to add the latter's curled ears to the former. They are bobtailed or short-tailed, have spotted or classic bullseye markings, mackerel and resemble the bobcat. The Highlander has a long sloping forehead and blunt muzzle with a very wide nose. The International Cat Association (TICA) is considered the world's largest genetic cat registry. Originally a North American organization, it now has a worldwide presence. The organization has a genetic registry for pedigreed and household pet cats and is one of the world's largest sanctioning bodies for cat shows. Cat Fanciers' Association
The Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) was established in the United States in 1906. The CFA is currently the world's largest registry of pedigreed cats. Originally headquartered in Manasquan, New Jersey the CFA moved to Alliance, Ohio in 2010. The association's stated mission is preserving and promoting pedigreed breeds of cats while also enhancing the well-being of all cats. CFA's first licensed cat shows were held in Buffalo, New York and Detroit, Michigan in 1906. The association today has a known presence in Europe, China, and Japan along with its well-established activity in the United States and Canada. CFA has grown during the last century and celebrated its centennial in 2006.
