Raquel Peña De Antuña
Raquel Peña de Antuña (born Raquel Peña Rodríguez; 10 September 1966) is a Dominican politician and academic who has served as Vice President of the Dominican Republic since 2020. Early life and education Peña was born in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, on 10 September 1966, to tobacco industrialist Rafael Leocadio Peña Guillén, a white Dominican, and Estela Rodríguez, a mixed-race Dominican woman. She was educated primary at the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús School, and she studied secondary at the De La Salle School. She graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. Career Peña started her career following her graduation, at the companies owned by her family. She became a manager at the tobacco and commercial companies. 2020 Dominican Republic General Election
General elections were held in the Dominican Republic on 5 July 2020 to elect a president, vice-president, 32 senators and 190 deputies. They had originally been planned for 17 May, but were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. They are the second elections since 1994 in which all positions will be elected simultaneously, and the first in Dominican history in which all authorities will be elected simultaneously and directly. Incumbent President Danilo Medina was ineligible to stand for re-election, having served two consecutive terms since 2012. The governing Dominican Liberation Party's 16-year rule ended after Modern Revolutionary Party candidate Luis Abinader received a majority of the vote. Margarita Cedeño De Fernández
A margarita is a cocktail consisting of Tequila, triple sec, and lime juice often served with salt on the rim of the glass. The drink is served shaken with ice (on the rocks), blended with ice (frozen margarita), or without ice (straight up). The drink is generally served in a stepped-diameter variant of a cocktail glass or champagne coupe called a margarita glass. Origin The history of the margarita is one of folklore due to its numerous origin stories. According to cocktail historian David Wondrich, the margarita is related to the brandy daisy (''margarita'' is Spanish for "daisy"), remade with tequila instead of brandy. Furcy Fondeur
Colonel Furcy Fondeur Lajeunesse (1814 – 22 November 1892) was a French-born Dominican Republic military man and politician. Born in France, his family moved to the Spanish Captaincy General of Santo Domingo around 1820. His father was Louis Fondeur and his mother was Marguerite LaJeunesse, Comtesse De La Juvenile; he had 5 siblings. He married Jacinta Castro and had 5 children, he was widowed and remarried to María Luisa Fernández Fernández (1837–1895) and had 10 children. On 14 September 1863, Fondeur signed the Act of the Independence of the Dominican Republic from Spain, and fought in the Dominican Restoration War as a colonel; he is considered a hero of the Battle of Santiago (1863). He was designated Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1867. Fondeur Lajeunesse was also president of the City Council of Santiago de los Caballeros.
