Rani Karnavati Of Garhwal
Rani Karnavati of Garhwal Kingdom, also known as Tehri Garhwal, was the wife of Mahipat Shah (or Mahipati Shah), the Rajput king of Garhwal who used the title Shah. The capital of Garhwal Kingdom was shifted from Dewalgarh to Srinagar, Uttarakhand by him, who ascended to the throne in 1622 and further consolidated his rule over most parts of Garhwal. Though King Mahipati Shah died young in 1631, after his death his wife, Rani Karnavati, ruled the kingdom on the behalf of her very young seven-year-old son, Prithvipati Shah. Garhwal Kingdom
Garhwal Kingdom was an independent Himalayan kingdom in the current north-western Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, India, founded in 688 CE by Kanak Pal, the progenitor of the Panwar dynasty that ruled over the kingdom uninterrupted until 1803 CE. The kingdom was divided into two parts during the British Raj, namely: the princely state ''of Garhwal and'' the ''Garhwal District'' of British India. During this period, the princely state of Garhwal was one of the States of the Punjab Hills which became part of the Punjab Hill States Agency although it was not under the Punjab Province administration. The Song River is a river in Dehradun district that drains the central and eastern part of the Doon Valley, in the state of Uttarakhand, India. History Of Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand is a state in North India. Its name, which means "northern land" or "section" or "northern part" in Sanskrit, is mentioned in early Hindu texts as the combined region of Kedarkhand and Manaskhand. In the Puranas, Uttarakhand was the ancient term for the central Indian Himalayas. Its peaks and valleys were known as Svarga loka: a temporary abode of the righteous, and the source of the Ganges. At that time, present-day Uttarakhand was also reportedly inhabited by rishis and sadhus.
