Range War (Hell On Wheels)
"Range War" is the third episode of the third season of the American television drama series '' Hell on Wheels'', which aired on August 17, 2013 on AMC. The twenty-third episode of the series is co-written by Mark Richard and Reed Steiner and directed by Dennie Gordon. In the episode, when his railroad crew is attacked, Cullen Bohannon ( Anson Mount) first suspects the natives but learns Thomas Durant (Colm Meaney) might be behind it. Declan Toole (Damian O'Hare) arrives in town to claim Eva ( Robin McLeavy) and her baby to honor his brother's memory and Irish custom. ''Hell on Wheels'' is an American/Canadian Western television series about the construction of the first transcontinental railroad across the United States, which broadcast in the United States and Canada on the cable channel AMC, from November 6, 2011 to July 23, 2016. A range war or range conflict is a type of usually violent conflict, most commonly in the 19th and early 20th centuries in the American West. The subject of these conflicts was control of "open range", or range land freely used for cattle grazing, which gave the conflict its name. Hell on Wheels was the itinerant collection of flimsily assembled gambling houses, dance halls, saloons, and brothels that followed the army of Union Pacific railroad workers westward as they constructed the First transcontinental railroad in 1860s North America. The huge numbers of wage-earning young men working in what was a remote wilderness, far from the constraints of home, provided a lucrative opportunity for business.
