Rancho San Carlos De Jonata
Rancho San Carlos de Jonata was a Mexican land grant in present-day Santa Barbara County, California given in 1845 by Governor Pío Pico to Joaquín Carrillo and Jose Maria Covarrubias. The grant was west of Mission Santa Inés in the Santa Ynez Valley, and extended north from the Santa Ynez River along Zaca Creek. The grant encompasses present-day Solvang and Buellton. History José Joaquin Carrillo (1801–1868) was the son of Domingo Antonio Ygnacio Carrillo (1791–1837) and Maria Concepcion Nicanor Pico (1797–1871). Joaquin Carrillo married Manuela Carrillo and served as Santa Barbara County Judge from 1851–1853, a position later held by José María Covarrubias from 1861–1863. Joaquín Carrillo owned with his brother Rancho Lompoc and Rancho Mission Vieja de la Purisma. Santa Lucia Preserve
The Santa Lucia Preserve () or The Preserve (formerly Rancho San Carlos) is a private, gated development permitting 297 homesites. It is located in the foothills of the Santa Lucia Range between Palo Corona Regional Park and Carmel Valley, California. The Preserve consists of a nature reserve, of open land, and for development. It contains most of the watershed of Las Garzas Creek, a tributary of the Carmel River. Developers Peter Stocker and Tom Gray formed the Rancho San Carlos Partnership which purchased the property from Arthur Oppenheimer in 1990 for $70 million. After resolving disputes and lawsuits with environmentalists and activists, The Preserve Company and the Conservancy submitted a modified design that met their approval. San Carlos Nuevo Guaymas
San Carlos is a beachfront subdivision within the port city of Guaymas, but is considered its own town in the northern state of Sonora in Mexico. It is known for the clarity and warmth of the ocean water in its shallow bays. It lies on the Sea of Cortez. Given the size of the city, with nearly 7,000 inhabitants, there is a large number of RV parks, resorts and stores available. There is also an active diving community. Many Americans and Canadians live in San Carlos during the winter months. The summer months are very hot and humid. Fishing, scuba dive, and beach activities can be pursued here. Another widespread sport in San Carlos is sailing but you can also decide to skydive over the Sea of Cortez. Rancho Potrero De San Carlos
Rancho Potrero de San Carlos was a one square league () Mexican land grant in present-day Monterey County, California. It was given in 1837 by Governor Juan B. Alvarado to Fructuoso del Real, a Native American from the Mission San Carlos. The land had been part of the pasture of the Mission San Carlos. The grant was located on the south bank of the Carmel River. As of current day, it is part of The Santa Lucia Preserve, a gated community and nature preserve. History When Fructuoso del Real died in 1845, he passed the land to his daughter, Maria Estefana del Real, who married Joaquín Gutierrez, a soldier. When Mexico ceded California to the United States after the Mexican-American War, the 1848 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo stipulated that the land grants would be honored. However, owners were required to provide proof of their title.
