Ramiz Ahmed
Ramiz Ahmed (born July 27, 1995) is an American football kicker who is a free agent. He played college football at Nevada. He signed with the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2020 but was released prior to the season. He previously played for the Pittsburgh Maulers of the United States Football League (USFL) in 2022 and currently holds the record for the longest field goal made in USFL history (61 yards). High school career A Las Vegas native, Ahmed originally attended Faith Lutheran High School, where he played on the varsity soccer team as a freshman. He did not play football until his second year, when he transferred to Bishop Gorman High School and joined their team as a kicker. Placekicker
Placekicker, or simply kicker (PK or K), is the player in gridiron football who is responsible for the kicking duties of field goals and extra points. In many cases, the placekicker also serves as the team's kickoff specialist or punter. Specialized role The kicker initially was not a specialized role. Prior to the 1934 standardization of the prolate spheroid shape of the ball, drop kicking was the prevalent method of kicking field goals and conversions, but even after its replacement by place kicking, until the 1960s the kicker almost always doubled at another position on the roster. Touchback
In American football, a touchback is a ruling which is made and signaled by an official when the ball becomes dead on or behind a team's own goal line (i.e., in their end zone) and the opposing team gave the ball the momentum, or impetus, to travel over or across the goal line but did not have possession of the ball when it became dead. Since the 2018 season, touchbacks have also been awarded in college football on kickoffs that end in a fair catch by the receiving team between its own 25-yard line and goal line. Such impetus may be imparted by a kick, pass, fumble, or in certain instances by batting the ball. A touchback is not a play, but a result of events that may occur during a play. 2022 USFL Draft
The 2022 USFL Draft, also known as the 2022 USFL Player Selection Meeting, was the player selection process to fill the rosters of the eight teams for the 2022 USFL season. The draft was held on February 22–23, 2022, with results released through the USFL's social media channels. Structure The USFL player allocation process will be held in multiple phases, separated by position groups. The league will use a "snake" format in each phase, in which the draft order reversed with each round. The draft order will be shuffled for each phase as predetermined through lotteries. The United States Football League (USFL) is a professional American football minor league that began play on April 16, 2022. The inaugural 2022 regular season was played in its entirety in Birmingham, Alabama. The postseason games were played in Canton, Ohio, at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The league is currently owned by National Spring Football League Enterprises Co, LLC, a joint venture between founder Brian Woods and Fox Corporation's sports unit, Fox Sports in the United States. Eddy Piñeiro Jr. (born September 13, 1995) is an American football placekicker for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Florida, and signed with the Oakland Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2018 before joining the Chicago Bears the following year. Early years Piñeiro was born in Miami, Florida, to a Cuban father and Nicaraguan mother. The Toledo Rockets football team is a college football program in Division I FBS, representing the University of Toledo. The Rockets compete in the Mid-American Conference. Kickoff Specialist
A kickoff specialist is a special teams position in gridiron football. They are responsible for kicking the ball in the kickoff. These players tend to have a strong leg, often capable of making touchbacks, and capable of keeping a ball in the bounds of the field of play but do not have the accuracy or technique required to be a full-time placekicker or punter. Placekickers usually double their role as kickoff specialists; pure kickoff specialists are now seldomly-used. Some kickoff specialists later become full-time placekickers, while some are marginal placekickers who are soon out of football. Due to modern roster restrictions (and a 2016 rule change discouraging the kicking of touchbacks by awarding the receiving team possession at the 25-yard line instead of the 20), most NFL teams do not elect to have a kickoff specialist, and instead use their placekickers (or, less often, punters) on kickoffs. Thomas Richardson Perry (born August 29, 1980) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the special teams coordinator at Colorado State University. He has also coordinated special teams at Texas A&M University-Commerce, the University of South Alabama, the University of Nevada, Reno, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.
