The Ramblin' Man
''The Ramblin' Man'' is an album by American country music artist Waylon Jennings, released on RCA Victor in 1974. Recording and composition With a slightly more commercial sound than some of his recent records, ''The Ramblin' Man'' remained true to Jennings' outlaw country image and uncompromising musical vision. The album was released at what was still considered to be the height of the outlaw movement in country music, and this was reflected in its chart success, with the LP peaking at #3 on the country charts, Jennings best showing since ''Love of the Common People'' in 1967. Jennings produced it himself, although Ray Pennington co-produced "Oklahoma Sunshine" and "I'm a Ramblin' Man," the latter of which he also wrote. Pennington recorded "I'm a Ramblin' Man" in 1967 for Capitol Records and took it to #29 on the country charts. Jennings' version would be his second #1 on the country chart and also appeared on Australian charts. "Rainy Day Woman" was released in Decemb ...

Subsequently based in Macon, Georgia, they incorporated elements of blues, jazz, and country music, and their live shows featured jam band-style improvisation and instrumentals. Their first two studio releases, '' The Allman Brothers Band'' (1969) and ''Idlewild South'' (1970) (both released by Capricorn Records), stalled commercially, but their 1971 live release '' At Fillmore East'' was an artistic and commercial breakthrough. It features extended versions of their songs " In Memory of Elizabeth Reed" and " Whipping Post", and is considered among the best live albums ever made. Group leader Duane Allman was killed in a motorc ...

Ramblin' Man (Hank Williams Song)
"Ramblin' Man" is a song written in 1951 by Hank Williams. It was released as the B-side to the 1953 number one hit " Take These Chains from My Heart", as well as to the 1976 re-release of "Why Don't You Love Me". It is also included on the '' 40 Greatest Hits'', a staple of his CD re-released material. Background "Ramblin' Man" is one of Williams' few minor key compositions and is sung rather than spoken, unlike the other recitations he recorded as " Luke the Drifter," an alter ego created by Williams and producer Fred Rose to let jukebox operators know that the heavily moralistic recitations were not typical Hank Williams honky tonk singles. The song is notable for the simplicity of its structure, relying upon a 2-chord, minor-key, rhythm guitar figure and alternating minimal accompaniment from fiddle and steel guitar. It also features Williams' trademark "yodel." The song's three verses, all ending in the title line, are sung straight through with no pause for instrume ...

Ramblin' Man (The Allman Brothers Band Song)
"Ramblin Man" is a song by American rock band The Allman Brothers Band, released in August 1973 as the lead single from the group's fourth studio album, '' Brothers and Sisters'' (1973). Written and sung by guitarist Dickey Betts, the song was inspired by a 1951 song of the same name by Hank Williams. It is considerably more inspired by country music than other Allman Brothers Band compositions, which made the group reluctant to record it. Guitarist Les Dudek provides guitar harmonies, and it was one of bassist Berry Oakley's last contributions to the band. The song became the Allman Brothers Band's first and only top 10 single, peaking at number two on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and number 12 on the Easy Listening chart. Background "Ramblin Man" was first created during songwriting sessions for '' Eat a Peach''. An embryonic version, referring to a "ramblin' country man," can be heard on the bootleg ''The Gatlinburg Tapes'', featuring the band jamming on an off-day in Ap ...

Let's Get Small
''Let's Get Small'' (1977) is an album by American comedian Steve Martin. It includes "Excuse Me", a comedy bit whose title went on to become a national catchphrase. The album went platinum and peaked at No. 10 on the ''Billboard'' Pop Albums Chart. It was recorded at The Boarding House in San Francisco, California. This album won the Grammy Award in 1978 for Best Comedy Album. Some of Martin's bits were dependent on visual demonstration, such as when he dances as a Vegas pop singer on the track "Las Vegas" (presumably recognizing this in the context of recording the album, Martin's shoes are audible and quite loud as he performs the dance on this track) and also during the "Let's Get Small" track where he discusses getting small while driving — here he mimed driving a car while being so short as to barely reach the bottom of the steering wheel. Martin had debuted this particular bit in a February 26, 1977 appearance on the show ''Saturday Night Live''. The album cover shows ...
