Rail Passenger Rights Regulation 2007
The Rail Passenger Rights Regulation 2007 (ECNo 1371/2007gives railway passengers basic rights in EU law to refunds and minimum levels of service. It has mandatory application, without implementing legislation. Before this many countries, such as the United Kingdom, had no rights set in law for rail passengers. The Regulation creates minimum rights which every member state law, and every rail undertaking, may improve upon. New EU rail rules which came into place in November 2018 however risk undermining these existing passenger rail rights. A season ticket, or season pass, is a ticket that grants privileges over a defined period of time. History The ''Oxford English Dictionary'' has illustrative quotations which show the term ''season ticket'' used in the United States in 1820 for theatre tickets; and in the United Kingdom in 1836 for boat travel and 1862 for rail transport. Sports In sports, such as association football or American football, a season ticket grants the holder access to all regular-season home games for one season without additional charges. The ticket usually offers a discounted price over purchasing a ticket for each of the home games for a season individually. In some sports, season ticket holders are usually allowed to buy tickets for other home games (such as the playoffs) earlier than other fans, and may be given priority when buying tickets for their team's allocation at an away game. Flight Compensation Regulation 2004
The Flight Compensation Regulation 2004''(EC) No 261/2004is a regulation in EU law establishing common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of denied boarding, flight cancellations, or long delays of flights. It requires compensation of €250 to €600 depending on the flight distance for delays over of at least three hours,Regulation (EC) No 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Articles 3 and 4 (http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/en/ALL/?uri=CELEX:32004R0261) cancellations, or being denied boarding from overbooking. Delays shorter than three hours means no entitlement to any compensation of any kind even if the delay was classified as non-extraordinary. Bus Passenger Rights Regulation 2011
The Bus Passenger Rights Regulation 2011''(EU) No 181/2011is an EU regulation that creates rights for bus passengers, particularly when delayed. Contents Article 19(1) requires that if a bus is delayed over 2 hours, (1) if this delay is expected there is right to re-routing or refund of the ticket price and return service free at earliest opportunity, and (2) if a choice not offered there must be compensation of 50% of ticket price in addition to rights in (1). Article 20 requires that information is given no later than 30 minutes from the delay. Article 21 requires that there is assistance by snacks, meals, refreshments in reasonable relation to waiting time. Railways In The UK
The railway system in Great Britain is the oldest railway system in the world. The first locomotive-hauled public railway opened in 1825, which was followed by an era of rapid expansion.
