Rita Gardner
Rita Gardner ( Schier; October 23, 1934 – September 24, 2022) was an American actress and singer. Career Gardner made her stage debut Off-Broadway in Jerry Herman's musical review ''Nightcap'' (1958) before her breakout turn as Luisa in the original cast of ''The Fantasticks'' in 1960. Other off-Broadway credits include ''The Cradle Will Rock'' (1964), ''To Be Young, Gifted, and Black'' (1969), '' Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris'' (1972), '' Steel Magnolias'' (1987), ''Wings'' (1993), and '' The Foreigner'' (2004). Gardner made her Broadway debut in the short-lived musical (65 performances) '' A Family Affair'' in 1962 as Sally Nathan. She was featured in a brief 1963 revival of '' Pal Joey'' as Linda English and replaced Susan Watson soon after the opening of '' Ben Franklin in Paris'' in 1964. ''The Wedding Singer'' is a musical with music by Matthew Sklar, lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and a book by Beguelin and Tim Herlihy. It is based on the 1998 film of the same name. Ford's Theatre
Ford's Theatre is a theater located in Washington, D.C., which opened in August 1863. The theater is infamous for being the site of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. On the night of April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth entered the theater box where Lincoln and his wife were watching a performance of ''Our American Cousin'', slipped the single-shot, 5.87-inch derringer from his pocket and fired at Lincoln's head. After being shot, the fatally wounded Lincoln was carried across the street to the Petersen House, where he died the next morning. The theater was later used as a warehouse and government office building. In 1893, part of its interior flooring collapsed, causing 22 deaths, and needed repairs were made. THE BUCKS COUNTRY PLAYHOUSE The Bucks County Playhouse is located in New Hope, Pennsylvania. When the ''Hope Mills'' burned in 1790, the grist mills were rebuilt as the ''New Hope Mills,'' by Benjamin Parry. The town was renamed for the mills. The building was saved from demolition in the 1930s purchased and run, by a group including playwrights Moss Hart and Kenyon Nicholson. Renovations converting the building into a theatre began in 1938. The first show opened there on July 1 1939, ''Springtime for Henry'' featuring Edward Everett Horton.
