The R76 is a provincial route in Free State, South Africa that connects Orkney with Bethlehem via Kroonstad. Route The R76 begins at a junction with the R30 road 5 kilometres south of the R30 bridge on the Vaal River, which provides access to the town of Orkney in the North West on the other side. It begins by going east, then south-east, for 29 kilometres to meet the R59 road in the town of Viljoenskroon. After separating Rammulotsi from Viljoenskroon Central, the R76 continues south-south-east for 60 kilometres, meeting the eastern terminus of the R727 road, to enter the town of Kroonstad. It passes through Kroonstad's Wespark suburb before reaching a roundabout in the suburb of Kroonheuwel, where it turns southwards. It passes through Kroonstad CBD and crosses the Vals River just after. The Vaal River ( ; Khoemana: ) is the largest tributary of the Orange River in South Africa. The river has its source near Breyten in Mpumalanga province, east of Johannesburg and about north of Ermelo and only about from the Indian Ocean. It then flows westwards to its conjunction with the Orange River southwest of Kimberley in the Northern Cape. It is long, and forms the border between Mpumalanga, Gauteng and North West Province on its north bank, and the Free State on its south. The R26 is a provincial route in Free State, South Africa that connects Zastron with Villiers via Bethlehem. Route The R26 begins in the town of Rouxville, at a t-junction with the N6 National Route. It begins by going north-east for 30 kilometres to meet the north-western terminus of the R726 Road and bypass the town of Zastron. From Zastron, the R26 goes northwards for 65 kilometres, following the borderline with Lesotho, through Van Stadensrus, to the town of Wepener near the Van Rooyen's Gate border with Lesotho, where it meets the R702 Road. The R702 & R26 become one road for a few kilometres westwards. Just after crossing the Caledon River, at the northern terminus of the R701 Road (a four-way junction), the R702 remains on the road westwards while the R26 turns northwards. The R707 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Frankfort with Marquard via Petrus Steyn, Lindley, Arlington and Senekal. Route Its north-eastern terminus is a junction with the R34 just west of Frankfort. From there, it runs south-west for 55 kilometres to the town of Petrus Steyn, where it meets the R57 east of the town centre. The R707 and R57 are co-signed southwards for 2 kilometres before the R707 becomes its own road to the south-west. The N1 is a national route in South Africa that runs from Cape Town through Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Polokwane to Beit Bridge on the border with Zimbabwe. Vals River
The Vals River ( af, Valsrivier) is a tributary of the Vaal River in the Free State, South Africa. It is a strong seasonal river. This river of the Middle Vaal System is a good place for fishing, especially the local Largemouth Yellowfish. Course The river source is about 20 km southeast of Paul Roux and about 25 km southeast of Bethlehem. It flows under the N5 road shortly after its source. In its upper course the Vals River flows roughly northwards, bending northwestwards across the highveld towards Lindley and meandering across the plain. In its middle course there are a number of weirs as it flows mostly through areas of dryland crops and its waters are used for irrigation. The R59 is a freeway from the R57 Junction in Sasolburg until the Alberton N12 Reading Interchange, signposted as the Sybrand van Niekerk Freeway.
