Kiskeam or Kishkeam () is a village in North West County Cork, Ireland. It is in the civil parish of Kilmeen in the Barony of Duhallow. Kiskeam is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency. Boherbue (post office spelling) or Boherboy (Ordnance Survey spelling) () is a village in North West County Cork, Ireland. The village is in the civil parish of Kilmeen in the Barony of Duhallow, and spans the townlands of Gneeves, Laharan and Derrynatubbrid. Boherbue is within the Cork North-West Dáil constituency. History The exact time period for the first permanent settlement in the area in not known. It has been suggested that the first inhabitants of the area were probably nomadic due to the amount of 'forts and bailes' that have are recorded in the area. Other ancient monuments in the area, as listed in the Record of Monuments and Places, include several ringforts and fulacht fiadh. Castleisland
Castleisland () is a town and commercial centre in County Kerry in south west Ireland. The town is known for the width of its main street. As of the 2016 Census, Castleisland had a population of 2,486. Castleisland was described by one of its citizens, journalist Con Houlihan, as "not so much a town as a street between two fields". History Castleisland was the centre of Desmond power in Kerry. The village got its name, 'Castle of the Island of Kerry', from a castle built in 1226 by Geoffrey Maurice (or de Marisco). Ballydesmond (), formerly Kingwilliamstown, is a rural village in County Cork, Ireland. It lies on the Blackwater River (near its source in Menganine) on the Cork-Kerry border. The Ballydesmond quarry is an area of geological interest, containing the best example of tundra forest polygons found in Ireland. It is located at the junction of the R577 and R578 regional roads. History Ballydesmond was established in the 1830s as a model village, and named Kingwilliamstown after King William IV of the United Kingdom. It had formerly been known as Tooreenkeogh. The N72 road is a national secondary road in Ireland that runs east-west from its junction with the N25 near Dungarvan in County Waterford to the N70 in Killorglin in County Kerry. The road passes through Lismore – Fermoy ( M8) – Mallow ( N20) – Rathmore – Killarney ( N22) – Killorglin. The N72 is 165.923 km long. Route Like most national secondary roads, the N72 is mainly a single carriageway two-lane road. Some stretches are narrow with sharp bends. The N72 begins in County Waterford at the N25 near Dungarvan. Travelling west from there to Cappoquin the road is single carriageway.
