N69 Road (Ireland)
The N69 road is a national secondary road in Ireland. It runs from Limerick to Tralee and passes through Mungret, Clarina, Kildimo, Askeaton (bypassed), Foynes, Loghill, Glin, Tarbert, and Listowel. Upgrades The N22/N69 Tralee Bypass opened on 16 August 2013. Four kilometres of dual carriageway were added to the N69, the first such section to be included in this route. The N69 now terminates at the Ballingowan Roundabout on the N22/N69 Tralee Bypass. Route The N69 start at Limerick on the N18 west Limerick bypass which was opened in 2010. It pass though the villages of Mungret, Clarina, Ferrybridge and Kildimo. This section of N69 is the busiest with average traffic volumes of 8,000 daily. It passed Askeaton, which was bypassed since 1990 with 5km of good standard road. Shanagolden, County Limerick
Shanagolden () is a small village located in County Limerick, Ireland. The village is on the R521 regional road between Foynes and Newcastlewest, around 35 km west of Limerick City. It is situated west of the 'Golden Vale', an area of fertile agricultural land in the province of Munster. The population was 303 at the 2016 census. In 968 the King of Munster, Mathgamain mac Cennétig, defeated the Hiberno-Norse Kings Ivar of Limerick and Ivar of Waterford at Sengualainn in a "red slaughter". Ardagh, County Limerick
Ardagh () is a village and civil parish in County Limerick, Ireland. The village is situated on the R523 regional road. The nearest town is Newcastle West, about three miles away, on the R521 road to Foynes and Shanagolden. Primary level educational for the village and its surroundings is provided by St Molua's National School. The parish is bounded to the west by Athea, to the north by the parish of Coolcappa, to the east Rathkeale and to the south by Newcastle West. The local GAA team is known as St. Kierans, a club which represents both the parish of Ardagh-Carrigkerry as well as Coolcappagh-Kilcolman. History and archaeology On 5 March 1867, in the Fenian Rising, an unsuccessful attempt was made by local Fenian supporters to capture the local Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) barracks. N21 Road (Ireland)
The N21 road is a national primary road in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The route runs from the M20 motorway (Ireland), M20 outside Limerick to Tralee with connecting roads to other parts of County Kerry. It is in length. It runs through the towns of Abbeyfeale, Newcastle West, Adare and the village of Templeglantine. Prior to October 2010 the N21 also ran through the town of Castleisland. The town has since been bypassed. Rathkeale was also bypassed in 1992. Route The N21 route commences about southwest of Limerick city, just beyond Patrickswell. At the junction, which is reached by the main M20 motorway (Ireland), M20 motorway, the N20 diverges south to Cork (city), Cork and the main dual-carriageway becomes the N21 west. Newcastle West
Newcastle West () or simply Newcastle (''An Caisleán Nua'', formerly anglicized Castlenoe) is a town in west County Limerick, Ireland. It is the largest town in the county, excluding Limerick city, It is also the county town, and sits on the River Arra which flows into the River Deel. Newcastle West is in the middle of a great bowl-shaped valley in West Limerick, known one time as the valley of the Wild Boar, apparently due to the abundance of this animal here when the area was thickly wooded.
