''Serenity'' is a 2005 American space Western film written and directed by Joss Whedon in his feature directorial debut. River Tam is a fictional character of the ''Firefly'' franchise. River is portrayed by actress Summer Glau in the 2002 TV series ''Firefly'' and the 2005 film '' Serenity''.
