R. Sakkarapani
R. Sakkarapani is an Indian Tamil politician, Minister of Tamil Nadu, and incumbent Member of the Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu who has been elected from Oddanchatram constituency for five consecutive periods and now as the sixth term. A member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party, he won in 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016 and 2021 elections. He was the Chief Government Whip of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 2006 to 2011 and as a DMK Whip from the 2011 to 2016 Legislative assembly and also from the 2016 to 2021 assembly. He was appointed the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies of Tamil Nadu for the first time in Thiru M. K. Stalin's cabinet. A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of an electoral district (constituency) to the legislature of State government in the Indian system of government. From each constituency, the people elect one representative who then becomes a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Each state has between seven and nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament (MP) that it has in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's bicameral parliament. 2011 Tamil Nadu State Assembly Election
The Fourteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 13 April 2011 to elect members from 234 constituencies in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Results were released on 13 May 2011. Two major parties Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) faced the election as coalitions of multiple political parties: DMK front consisted of 8 parties and the AIADMK of 11 parties. Vijayakanth's Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), which had contested the previous elections independently, allied with the AIADMK coalition. The Sixteenth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Election was held on 6 April 2021, to elect Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), representatives from the List of constituencies of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, 234 constituencies in the States and union territories of India, Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The Fifteenth Legislative Assembly Election was held on 16 May 2016 for the 232 seats (except Thanjavur Assembly constituency, Thanjavur and Aravakurichi Assembly constituency, Aravakurichi for which held on 26 October 2016) of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly in the state of Tamil Nadu in India.
