R.I.P. (The Zombies Album)
''R.I.P.'', also known as ''R.I.P. - The Lost Album'', is a studio album by the English rock band the Zombies. It was originally scheduled to be released in 1969, but was cancelled. It was first released in Japan in October 2000 by Imperial Records. In March 1968, Rod Argent, Chris White, and Hugh Grundy began working on material for a possible new band when they were approached by CBS to do another Zombies album. This three-man lineup recorded one composition, "Conversation Off Floral Street", before Chris White, wishing to retain only his role as a songwriter, was replaced on bass by Jim Rodford. Rick Birkett briefly joined the band on guitar, but this lineup only recorded a few sessions which did not make the album. By late 1968, Birkett and Grundy had left the band, to be replaced by Russ Ballard and Bob Henrit respectively. Paul Atkinson (guitarist)
Paul Ashley Warren Atkinson (19 March 1946 – 1 April 2004) was a British guitarist and record company executive, best known as a founding member of the pop/rock band The Zombies. Atkinson was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019. Life and career Paul Atkinson was born in Cuffley, Hertfordshire on 19 March 1946, son of Stanley Atkinson, a stockbroker's accountant who worked in the City of London, and Clyde, a teacher of English, languages, and secretarial skills courses at a technical college. When he was nine, the family moved to St Albans. He was educated at St Albans School, and contemplated going into the Diplomatic Service like several members of his family, or studying anthropology. One Year
''One Year'' is the debut solo studio album by English singer-songwriter Colin Blunstone, a member of the Zombies. It was released by Epic Records in 1971. It includes "Say You Don't Mind", which peaked at number 15 on the UK Singles Chart. Production After the Zombies disbanded in 1968, Blunstone left the music business only to return after the surprise success of "Time of the Season". Recorded between 1970 and 1971, ''One Year'' was co-produced by Blunstone's former Zombie colleagues Rod Argent and Chris White. Some of the songs had previously been recorded during the last days of the Zombies, although they were re-recorded for this album. The album chronicled a year in Blunstone's life, during which he broke up with his then-girlfriend, actress Caroline Munro, to whom "Caroline, Goodbye" is obviously addressed. Colin Blunstone
Colin Edward Michael Blunstone (born 24 June 1945) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. In a career spanning more than 60 years, Blunstone came to prominence in the mid-1960s as the lead singer of the English rock band the Zombies, which released four singles that entered the Top 75 charts in the United States during the 1960s, including "She's Not There", "Tell Her No", " She's Coming Home", and "Time of the Season". Blunstone began his solo career in 1969, releasing three singles under a pseudonym of Neil MacArthur. Since then, he has released ten studio albums under his real name. "Imagine the Swan" is a song by the British rock band the Zombies, released as a single in May 1969. It was written by keyboard player Rod Argent and bass player Chris White. It was recorded following the unexpected success of "Time of the Season" and intended for a Zombies album following ''Odessey and Oracle'' that went unreleased at the time. Argent (band)
Argent were an English rock band founded in 1969 by keyboardist Rod Argent, formerly of the Zombies. They had three UK top 40 singles: "Hold Your Head Up", which reached number five and spent 12 weeks on the chart, "Tragedy" (number 34), and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" (number 18). Two of their albums charted in the UK: '' All Together Now'', which peaked at number 13 in 1972, and '' In Deep'', which spent one week at number 49 in 1973. Russell Glyn Ballard (born 31 October 1945) is an English singer, songwriter and musician. Originally coming to prominence as the lead singer and guitarist for the band Argent, Ballard became a songwriter and producer by the late 1970s. His compositions "New York Groove", " You Can Do Magic", "Since You Been Gone", " I Surrender", "Liar", "Winning", "I Know There's Something Going On", "Can't Shake Loose", "So You Win Again" and "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" were hits for other artists during the 1970s and 1980s. Jim Rodford
James Walter Rodford (7 July 1941 – 20 January 2018) was an English musician, who played bass for several British rock bands. He was a founding member of Argent, which was led by his cousin Rod Argent, and performed with them from their formation in 1969 until they disbanded in 1976. He was the bassist for the Kinks from 1978 until they disbanded in 1997. In 2004, he joined the reunited Zombies, whom he had been closely associated with since the early 1960s, and remained a member until his death in 2018. He was also a member of the Swinging Blue Jeans and the Kast Off Kinks. Early years Rodford was born on 7 July 1941, in St Albans, Hertfordshire, England. In the late 1950s and early 1960s he was a member of the Bluetones, the biggest band in St Albans at the time. Although he did not become a band member at this stage, Rodford was instrumental in helping his younger cousin Rod Argent form the Zombies in 1964.
