Quo (group)
Quo was an Australian-American short-lived hip hop duo composed of Wade Robson (born 1982) and DeWayne Turrentine Jr. (born 1979). Preceded by Brownstone, they were the second act signed to Michael Jackson's Epic Records subsidiary, MJJ Music. The duo formed in 1993. In 1994, Quo released their single "Huh What" produced by Redman, followed by their second single, " Blowin' Up (Don't Stop the Music)", produced by Teddy Riley, which became a hip hop hit, charting on both the Hot Rap Songs and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. On October 25, 1994, the duo's self-titled album was released. The following year, a third single, "Quo Funk," was released, which heavily sampled The Jacksons' "This Place Hotel, "produced by Battlecat. Reagan Amyre Gomez-Preston (born April 24, 1980) is an American television, film and voice actress. She is known for her roles as Zaria Peterson on The WB sitcom ''The Parent 'Hood'' (1995–1999) and Roberta Tubbs on the FOX animated comedy ''The Cleveland Show'' (2009–2013). Kevin Gilliam (born April 20, 1968), better known by his stage name Battlecat, is an American hip hop record producer and DJ from South Los Angeles, California. Biography He started out as a battle DJ, notably competing in the 1988 New Music Seminar DJ Battle for World Supremacy and the 1990 DMC US Mixing Finals, both in NYC. He is well known for producing artists such as Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur, The Game, Xzibit and Tha Eastsidaz along with a number of other West Coast rappers. His aesthetic is a progression from the early-'90s G-Funk sound pioneered by Above the Law and Dr. Dre, characterized by fat synth bass lines and soulful keys. This Place Hotel
"This Place Hotel" (originally named "Heartbreak Hotel") is a 1980 song by the Jacksons, written by Michael Jackson. While his brothers did not sing background vocals, they were credited with playing percussion on the album while brother Tito contributed a guitar solo. The song has a tempo of 98 beats per minute, making it notably slower than many of the other disco-based songs on the album. In the song, the protagonist speaks of a time when ten years ago, he took his girlfriend to a hotel for a romantic night—only to find out that it was designed specifically to break couples up. The staff at the hotel gave the girl the impression that he had cheated on her with someone else, something he did not do, which caused her to break up with him in the hotel.
