Quirino Highway Station
Quirino Highway station is an under-construction Metro Manila Subway station located in Quirino Highway, Barangay Talipapa, Novaliches, Quezon City, Philippines. It is the second station for trains headed northbound towards the East Valenzuela station and the third station for trains headed southbound to the North Triangle Common Station. Some of the station's closest landmarks include the NLEX Harbor Link, Pacific Global Medical Center, and a Wilcon Depot. History In February 2019, the Department of Transportation signed a deal with the joint venture of Shimizu Corporation, Fujita Corporation, Takenaka Civil Engineering Co., Ltd., and EEI Corporation for the design and build contract for the first three stations of the Metro Manila Subway. The Quirino Highway, formerly called the El Quirino Express Road or Ipo Road, is a four-to-eight lane, secondary highway that connects Quezon City to the municipality of Norzagaray in Bulacan, Philippines. The road is a designated as National Route 127 (N127) of the Philippine highway network within the city bounds of Quezon City, Radial Road 7 (R-7), and a spur of Radial Road 8 (R-8) of Metro Manila's arterial road network. Mindanao Avenue
Mindanao Avenue ( fil, Abenida Mindanao) is an eight-to-ten lane divided avenue connecting EDSA and NLEX and is a part of Circumferential Road 5 (C-5) in Metro Manila, Philippines. It is one of the three parallel roads that connects Tandang Sora and Congressional Avenues (Visayas Avenue and Luzon Avenue were the others); that is why it was named after the southernmost mainland of the Philippines, Mindanao. It used to be a highway connecting North Avenue and Congressional Avenue, but as a part of the C-5 projects, Mindanao Avenue was extended to EDSA in the south and to Quirino Highway to the north. Expressway 5 (E5) forms part of the Philippine expressway network. Collectively known as the North Luzon Expressway Harbor Link Project (NLEX Harbor Link Project), it runs from Congressional Avenue and Luzon Avenue, both components of Circumferential Road 5, in Quezon City to Radial Road 10 in Navotas, linking the North Luzon Expressway to the Port of Manila. Currently, its segment from Mindanao Avenue in Valenzuela to Navotas is operational. Novaliches
Novaliches is a place that forms the northern areas of Quezon City, and encompasses the whole area of North Caloocan. Etymology The name Novaliches came from the name of the small village of Novaliches in the town of Jérica, Spain. It was awarded to General Manuel Pavía y Lacy, who served as a Governor-General of the Philippines. The child Queen Isabella II bestowed on him the title "Marquez of Novaliches" for defending her against her uncle Don Carlos María Isidro Benito de Borbón, who claimed the throne of Spain which resulted in the First Carlist War.
