Aether (classical Element)
According to ancient and medieval science, aether (, alternative spellings include ''æther'', ''aither'', and ''ether''), also known as the fifth element or quintessence, is the material that fills the region of the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. The concept of aether was used in several theories to explain several natural phenomena, such as the traveling of light and gravity. In the late 19th century, physicists postulated that aether permeated all throughout space, providing a medium through which light could travel in a vacuum, but evidence for the presence of such a medium was not found in the Michelson–Morley experiment, and this result has been interpreted as meaning that no such luminiferous aether exists. Mythological origins The word (''aithḗr'') in Homeric Greek means "pure, fresh air" or "clear sky". In Greek mythology, it was thought to be the pure essence that the gods breathed, filling the space where they lived, analogous to the ''air'' breathed ...

Steam Powered Giraffe
Steam Powered Giraffe is an American musical project formed in San Diego in 2008, self-described as "a musical act that combines robot pantomime, puppetry, ballet, comedy, projections, and music". Although the band underwent several line-up changes, it always focuses primarily on three robot characters (played by the Bennett siblings and a third performer, although the original line-up featured four robots), with several "humans" assisting and performing comedy, music and dancing on stage, and several smaller robots b ...

Chris was spot on in analysing him as someone who liked smoking joints and shagging birds, but what's wrong with that?" Tilbrook stated, "Musically it was my tip of the hat to Elvis Costello, Elvis [Costello]. He'd borrowed the riff from 'Time Is Tight' and used it on a song called 'Temptation (Elvis Costello song), Temptation'. I thought it would be funny to use that riff again for 'In Quintessence' and expand it." The s ...

It had sold 200,000 copies in the US as of September 2010, making it one of their highest-selling albums to date. According to an interview on the DVD ''The Making of Crack the Skye'', this album represents the element of aether, which is represented by the souls and spirits of all things, a theme closely related to the context of the album. Because the elements of fire, water and earth have already been represented by the band's first three albums '' Remission'', ''Leviathan'', ''Blood Mountain'' and the band's seventh album ''Emperor of Sand'', respectively, the element of air is the only classical element which has yet to be represented by a Mastodon album, as their follow-up stu ...
